Lol, take it easy turbo, and this is based on what? The game shipped with 8 maps, with only 1 way to play each map without having to create an identical character the player base would have sank even faster.
You’d also run into servers where everyone is Resistance or Security and nobody wants to switch sides. Decent servers are hard enough to find as it is.

Those who wanted the most out of the game with only 8 maps would end up playing both sides which makes faction loyalty moot.

edit: right now we have 8 maps, 16 different ways to play. I don’t see how cutting that in half and only limiting yourself can be seen as a good thing. Do you honestly want to cut the game in half just to live out your rpg resistance fantasy?

Sorry it was retarded enough in ETQW when people wouldn’t change sides to balance teams because they “Only played GDF”. If you want to role play do it in an RPG.

Cluttering a multiplayer class based object shooter with these absolutely inconsequential rpg trinkets to drag in players from outside of the genre only leads to the game suffering. If you can’t play a multiplayer class based objective shooter because it lacks the ability for you to play pretend then I think that says more about the type of game you want to play than any deficiency in the game itself.

In an MMOFPS I can see it, but the style of game, <30 minute maps, players hopping in and out, fast dynamic play, the whole idea of encumbering it with long drawn out RPG influences and destroying that is just, IMO, selling out the gameplay for the sake of appeal.

IMO asymmetrical gameplay is where its at for faction loyalty.
The story in any game, isn’t interesting enough to prompt players to be loyal most of the time.
Although there were players in etqw who couldn’t play strogg because they couldnt identify with being an alien cough

maybe - but you yanks always make us subsidise everything for you. american companies never seem to grasp exchange rates.

example: something is $1000 USD
they sell it to the UK for £1000 - thats almost double the price! the £ isnt worth $2 any more but its so annoying that we get screwed all the time. adobe is the worst - they often charge more £ than $!. they claim its for the language packs, even though everything is in US english and not proper english. :frowning:

for such a big multicultural country a lot of the yanks are very insular and know very little of the world outside the USA. must be all the history lessons where you seem to only learn the presidents :slight_smile:

What’s the difference between the Resistance and the Security?

They all have the same 4 classes, have the same 3 body types and identical weapons, have silly clichéd accents, annoying faction leaders and both been manipulated by the founders.

I see no reason to favor one from the other? They both play the same…

im not clueless. i dont want it. and mag didnt do very well, which suggests that not many people do want it. this isnt world of weirdos. its an FPS

its much harder to organise games with friends, its not like we have a big community. BF could do it. they have a massive community.

think about it. it would mean casuals only get to play one faction, the same 8 maps as security every time?

so, they would have to make 2 characters to even play the game (and both most likely would be identical apart from faction). i also prefer stopwatch as a game mode. to me its the fairest as every map is easier for one side. its virtually impossible to create 100% balanced maps without resorting to mirrored layouts - i find those boring!

all my 5 characters (level 20) have different loadouts. i would need to have 10 to achieve when i have now.
