Ok so disregard my earlier post about it yes it was frustrating but I figured it out so you can easily unlock the 2 STAR CHALLENGE SMG. First you must create a new character and then do those challenge again from star 1 to star 2. The difference is their intelligence. Yes you have your heave or your light character builds but the AI are really dumb and they might have a chance of downing you but I completed it without having to shoot once.
Yes you unlocks carry over to a different character so its plain and easy to unlock this SMG.
