Extremely simple beginner question here....

I’m very new to mapping so please excuse a rudimentary question. I am simply trying to make a room off one of the many tutorials and I can’t get it to run in ET. I have compiled the map (using Q3Map2: (single) BSP -meta", run ET, and typed “/sv_pure 0”, “/g_gametype 2”, and “/devmap room”. After which, I constantly get the error message “Cvar_update: Handle out of range.” What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you put in the mapcoordsmin and mapcoordsmax in the worldspawn?

check this thread for a basic room tutoriral:

Well, that’s not very noobish at all. You’re problem is, that you have downloaded something from a server that is messing up your cvars.
You should throw away all the junk in your etmain folder you’ve downloaded from servers. Maps are not to be deleted here and make sure not to delete any pak.pk3 files.
One of the files from a server is just messing up your ET. I don’t know about any details, but it has nothing to do with mapping actually. And no, it has nothing to do with mapcoords.

I checked some old forum threads and found out many people have this problem. Reinstalling ET did the trick. Thanks a million for the help!

Oops, on a totally wrong tangent in my post there

Besides, having a seperate ET installation just for editing does wonders, and saves you from accidently using custom textures from a diffirent custom map…
