Extraction's main problem

(.FROST.) #41
the easiest way is still balance with mapdesign.
c4 time should give the possibility to defuse
how easy it is to defuse must be up to the map
You can do so much balancing without even touching the characters, the weapons, or the map itself; just by moving the spawn, changing spawn-times, tweaking the C4 timer and changing EV speed and damage-/repair-values, or fast the secondaries can be accomplished.

you noticed you write a list
and i only 1 point?
so which way would be easier succesfull.
if you tweak 1 thing it can easy be a butterfly effect.so you have to tweak the next and than the next…

I just wanted to agree with you. I didn’t meant, that everything I’ve named should be tweaked, I only said, that you can do so much, just by changing a couple stats and numbers, without even touching the characters, or the map.

And of course is there a Butterfly-Effect, but that’s for what the’ve built ECHO for.

(attack) #44

ah ok sry.
yes you can tweak much but currently we tweak too much on the same time.
all complaining about maps, but on the movement on the same time.
we have somehow to end this its like all trying to build smth and the foundation isnt their.
SD have to talk with us more and give us more view in the plant thinks.
its frustrating somewhere for all .for us and SD this way
the problem with LB was noticed by players since start and still isnt rly discused with us.

(attack) #45

maybe we should choose some community speakers which speak on skype or smth like that with members of SD one time the weak to stop the 100 thread about the same thing.the people have not the feeling to get heard and this have to change.
otherwise this fail communication never end.

(Volcano) #46

hah good luck with that

(attack) #47

i never surrender

(Loffy) #48

It’s in alpha.

Actually I think, and SD basically stated that themselfs, that they get the most info they need from ECHO. The priority list would probably go like this:

#1-ECHO
#2-Surveys
#3-Feedback from the community via the forums

We are definitely shaping the game, but maybe not in the way most of us had expected it; like in a more direct way through the forums and such. But instead we are more like lab-rats running through a maze of alpha maps whilst Big Brother ECHO is watching and recording all our very moves. We, or at least some peeps, may’ve mistaken SD for a company wich is in dire need for help from outside, but I think, that they allways had a very strong idea of what their game should be. That may’ve changed over the course of the last few years, but probably more from the inside, than due to inputs from the outside. We are only grinding off the edges, we aren’t necessarilly building the structure, that is the game.

(attack) #50

but echo can simply not show all.as example not the fun a game does.
their are reasons why people complain
It’s been said many, many times before, through all of the builds and it was actually tweaked and all, but the problem still remains; Extraction is way too slow(coming from me right:wink:).

Yet not in the way the characters move(since they are pretty fast, their speed is just right imo), but in the time it takes to finish the maps.

The EV has to be MUCH faster, the time on the timer until the C4 charge explodes has to be shorter, respawn has to be cranked up a huge chunk, hacking should be faster and so on and so forth. You could be fast like a freakin blitz, but if the gamplay is working like a motherhugging snail, than everything will still feel like a MMORPG style grindfest, that will have you exhausted after 3 matches.

If RPG players would be XT’s actual target group, then it maybe could work, but since XT’s target group are most certainly FPS players, wich usually prefer fast paced action*, and being pumped with adrenaline, then the game should fulfill those “desires”. Grinding your brains out will most certainly repel those guys which are seeking the rush of a FPS game. And with the standard FPS guys out of the picture who’d be left?

There’s a great possibility, that I’m entirely wrong, sure, maybe I’m not quite part of the target group, idk, but I can definitely say, that Extraction isn’t a game I can’t stop playing. I had many awesome matches, but I also felt quite exhausted afterwards(and I’m talking post nausea times here).

Simply put; people would much rather play 15matches in 4hrs, than three matches in 70 minutes

*wich is, imo, much more tied to the overall gameplay and map size and layout than to the character’s movement speed.
Ill agree the EV needs to be faster (removed preferably.) As for C4 lasting too long, if you shorten it any more the defense would be better off securing the next obj than to try and diffuse. I think if a few doc run maps were added this game will really start to shine.

I haven’t excluded the forums from that list, I just said, that the forums aren’t necessarilly SD’s first source to go, especially because subjective opinions can be entirely wrong. Like Bongoboy said in this interview. People perceived a certain weapon as OP, even though it’s stats were basically the same as from a different weapon, wich wasn’t perceived as OP. They found out, that people only had this wrong perception because of its sound. So it basically only sounded OP.
