Extraction?!?

Today when I opened the Nvidia Control Panel I saw this

As you can see “Extraction” is written in the place of “Dirty Bomb”. I know that the game developers changed the name several times, but the point of this topic is to tell you that this happaned after the recent update. Don’t believe me? Well here are some screenshots I took around 2 weeks ago.

@MisterMurder did you ever have the Nexon launcher version of the game installed? Before it was moved to steam?

That was the game’s old name, Dirty Bomb is way better.

No I haven’t. This happaned after the recent update.

Extraction sounds better to me, but this is just my personal preference.

Extraction sounds more like a game mode and doesn’t really make sense for the actual lore of the game, whereas Dirty Bomb actually fits. Either way, moot point now. Maybe we’ll get an Extraction game mode one day - capture the flag ahoy!

Extraction was the name Dirty Bomb was changed to when Nexon picked it up, however it was changed back because it’s was pretty crap (let’s face it, it’s generic as all hell).

There may be some remnants left in the game files, relating to “Extraction”, because with UDK you can’t go renaming source folders - else it might cause some really stupid bugs with file locating. That will likely be where it’s from, and it’s picking “Extraction” up as the app’s name.

The strange part is this never happened before. I took screenshots of my settings so when I update drivers (I always do clean install) I won’t forget them. Today when I wanted to change the settings of a different program it showed me “Extraction”. Two weeks ago (second part of the screenshots) it was written “Dirty Bomb”. Ohh well I will do a clean install again and post if it worked.

Well, at least your config file directory wasn’t possessed by THE DEVIL!!!

At some point a new install of DB stopped distributing the other user file directories for the UE3 demo “games” but that’s what you used to get :slight_smile:

It went Dirty Bomb -> Extraction -> Dirty Bomb , or at least that’s what I was told.

I did a clean reinstall of the newest drivers and the problem is fixed.
