Extraction at Gamescom 2014

Not sure if thats a thread for the public forum or should be posted here.

Is Extraction/SplashDamage/Nexon going to Gamescom 2014, maybe with a playable version of the game?
COULD there be an extra build for GC ?

Would be awesome if we could meet u guys there.
I am probably working all days @ GC 14, so I would come around in my breaks :smiley:

I hear after the last public showing they decided to make all the maps much worse by removing the best objectives >.<

  1. Disguise as “normal nerd visitor”
  2. Visit Extraction booth
  3. Complain about short maps, Team Skins, Spread
  4. Come back home, see a forum post from badman saying that a new build will address this.
  5. Profit

Exactly since this update maps are just horrible !!!
Short, Tiny, Linear, without any real side route, secondaryobj are just useless and obj design is really, really weak !
Before that action that was not the best maps, but at least they were more fun to play

So if you show this game at this stage I don’t think it’s a good idea. Look at the player base from the begining there is around 0.001% of the players who are still “in-game” (including cc guys …) So this is for me a big mistake to show this game to the public now.

Or maybe SD absolutely want a game like this, and imo this will be for sure a fail.

Main issues

  • Horrible maps
  • Classless objs and secondary objs are useless (proficiencies not really interesting for the moment)
  • Horrible objectives design

Make the game really boring for the moment. I just stop playing since weeks, waiting for some REAL maps changes.

While I do agree that your main issues are valid.
I also feel it comes down to a simple lack of “direction” when it comes to Extractions core design.

Sure you can fall back to “Omg Noob it does not need to be like other things its Extraction DURRRRRR”…
It feels like it takes great concepts from many other games but fails to commit to full integration leaving the whole experience feeling a little watered down.

Is it supposed to be Mercs like Heros in Dota and Champions in LoL?
If so… The Mercs should feel unique with their own play style and advantages/disadvantages aside from primary weapons.

Do you want accurate Hip Fire? or is it supposed to be Iron Sights?
Right now it feels like a hybrid between CoD and ET… Yet either one would be better then the combination.

Do you want the maps to be linear or open?
Again right now it feels like its stuck in this strange middle ground where more meaning full side objectives would be better and so would removing them altogether.

Even the TEAM COLOR argument…
I personally think the Lights on the shoulder and the Light/Dark theme would work well… However even going for a one Merc per round rule on Matchmaking would mean you would spot enemies via their outline meaning they could have even more unique looking skins… Right now… While I have never really had issues with deciding if friendly or enemy I have had issues seeing enemies full stop.

Hip fire forever ! bored of COD, BF ironsight games.
I’m just more and more desapointed since the begining of this project, every update make my feeling worse about this game.
Look like community ask for something and SD do the opposite to follow the plan we are not aware of.

Maps were too long before gamescom, now they are too short instead. I think SD will take our feedback and create better maps in the future once the new movement system is completed, rather than shoehorn it into maps where it won’t fit. But enough about that.

I hope they release another introduction trailer for the visitors at gamescom like they did last year, it was brilliant. HYPE!! :cool:

Well the average player has about 10 minutes to test the game, so shortening the maps for such an event makes sense.
But I wondered why the old maps have been “thrown away”. Trainyard had some good ideas. Liked the last party very much.
