Extended time was also introduced in the recent patch, this was something I first saw in a few W:ET maps and it was also on pretty much every objective in Brink. Some previous discussion here (from before it was implemented): http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/33284-Extended-Time?highlight=overtime
Extended time is only for objective mode, obviously.
Description
Extended time is when you get a limited time to complete a non-final objective, and give the attackers extra time to complete the next, if they manage to complete the previous one in time. The main purpose is to avoid attackers being stuck on a tricky objective for a full match, which can be a bit boring in some cases.
Voting
it’s a bit harder to evaluate this with the rather primitive poll system here, so let’s try a single option vote with some general options.
Current usage
Whitechapel have a 5 min limit to move the EV from first spawn to the chapel.
Waterloo have a 5 min limit to blow up the “old city wall”.
Don’t think there are more of them yet?
My personal opinion
I’m not sure if it’s combined with overtime in the current implementation, but think it should, even if it’s not final objectives.
I think that extended time can be useful in some cases, especially for those objectives where it’s practically impossible for the attackers to win the map when they spend too much time on an early objective.
I think they should be limited to a minimum of objectives, and certainly not more than one pr map.
And if used, I think the initial time given should be really long, much longer than it typically takes to complete the objective in avarage.
So for example, the current timelimit on whitechapel and waterloo should be doubled to 10 mins or so. Especially for waterloo, where the attackers have a pretty fair chance of doing the last ones in a rush, if they’re good (and with some luck). For whitechapel you need a certain time to move the EV the last part anyway, so extended time should cover this - if not it’s pointless to keep on.
And also been wondering if it could fit with one time extension on London Bridge, before the datacore objective.
