exporting models from radiant

is there a way to use the .ase stuff to export a prefab from radiant into 3dsmax?

You need an ASE importer plugin for Max.

The ASE importer for max is terrible and very difficult to find on the Web. The one I have doesn’t import materials so you will have pure geometry in max without textures and UVs.

I think you may consider to use Deep Exploration utility to convert ASE->3DS and then import it in max. DE is probably the best 3D_2_3D converter on the market. I’m not sure about it but it should be available as 30-day trial.

uh, thank you very much for the tip with DE. I searched for days and couldn´t find an “ase->something a prog can import” converter. Thanks!

mmm I have a import plugin for max (works on 4 & 5, dunno about 6)
I can’t remeber where i got it from, I would upload it somewhere, but i don’t want to
break any copywrites…
The plugin does import textures / uv mapping correctly…
although, when you first import a model, it will look grey, and you have pick the textures from the model
into the material editor to make them display, but they are there

edit: I just searched google for you, and found a copy of the plugin linked to in the second post in this thread:
http://www.nfscars.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=244481

It also has the source code with it, so in theory you can compile it fro any version of MAX

It’s the same version I have. I’m not the Max expect but the UVs are screwed up but I could do something wrong;)

Hmm. Why do you need it, Dime?
