Explanation request for the mission "Job On the side"

As from title.
I have this mission that says “Complete 5 secondary objectives”
What is a secondary objective?
Repairing the ramp in Chapel?
Constructing the generator in Terminal?

Correct!

Secondary Objectives are basically any objectives that are not required for the Attackers to complete the map. If I recall correctly, the following should be considered Secondary Objectives:

  • Bridge: Barricade Generator during the EV Escort
  • Chapel: Repairing the Ramp during the EV Escort, lowering the Bridge during the final objective.
  • Terminal: The Forward Spawn and the Gas Tunnel Generator during the first objective, the Gas Tunnel Generator during the second objective.
  • Trainyard: Door Generator during the first objective, door generator during the second objective.
  • Underground: The two Door Generators at the first objective, Gas Tunnel Generator and Barricade Generator at the second objective.

That’s going off memory, so I might’ve missed one or two.

I’ve noticed that planting c4 on the constructed defense doesn’t count as a secondary objective (just played bridge where i bombed out the barricade generator).
Well, that’s not too cool :frowning:

I think the 2 door gens on first stage of underground don’t count aswell if destroyed.
Only had this missions once tho.

edit: Repairing them as defenders did count towards the mission. Maybe a bit buggy that mission?

I endorse that. In the next patch they should fix this mission to accept the c4 bombing of secondary objectives too.

Well, it seems terribly bugged… Out of fivegames, multitude of finished secondary objectives: I was still stuck at two out of four. I chose to end the mission at that point. Not to mention that on the defense, there might not be that many opportunities to even finish secondary objectives.

They should just scrap this quest altogether. It’s too situational. It’s even worse than ‘Win x matches’ which they scrapped because of balance issues.

Idea is interesting… but its bugged as hell.
Sometimes it dosnt count progression, be it repairing generator or bombing it. Others it seem to count primary objective bombings in the mix as well.
Generally this mission seem to be out of place, due to various amounts of secondaries on different maps, their placement and opposite team playstyle(eg defenders cant get any secondary objective points if attackers dont construct those first).
So unless devs add more of secondaries on maps(yes, pls, for both sides, like constructing ammo stands in ET, or command posts for faster respawns/alternative spawn points), it is an extremely disbalanced mission.

I despise these missions as well because it’s now made secondary missions more important than the primary mission ones! I mean there are an average of 7 people on a side per game. If you are required to get 5 of them, that’s insane because you are competing against your own team. That and it forces you to use mercs you maybe don’t have. If I only have Aura, Skyhammer and Phantom and a Proxy or Bushwacker comes up, I get shoved to the side while they do it since the game realizes they are faster. The mission updates were horrible, there should only really be 3: 1) Play X missions, 2) Get so much (X) type experience, 3) Play X merc through so many missions. I don’t understand why they think they have to get so creative for these.

Totally agree. Sometimes I let them repair these generators so I can destroy them later. That’s not what the game is supposed to make you do but it’s what I feel like.

Another thing I don’t get is: I’ve destroyed ramps with Arty’s airstrike and it doesn’t count for secondary objetive :frowning:
