(K:os) #1

I can’t get my map to work, i can go in as spectator but it crashes when trying to access limbo.

I’ve added;

red_spawn
blue_spawn
deathmatch spawn
max and min coords

tried with and without Team wolf objective, but still no luck.

Would somone be able to have a look if i send them the .map to see if they can work it out and see what they think of the map in general

Thanks in advance

Adam

Take a look here, this is all you need.
There is a download link for a very basic sample map at the bottom of the page.

I’ve done a few simple single room maps and they worked fine, I followed the same process for this and it doesn’t want to work. Is there a max height a spawn can be from the very base of the map?

(redfella) #4

Dont think so.

(Moonkey) #5

Make sure you max and min coords make a square. Limbo crash makes it sounds like that’s the problem.

(Mlehliw) #6

The max and min coords of a map really only have to be rectangular

(Moonkey) #7

Well, any given set of points will form a rectangle :huh:

In my experience though, it’s crashed for me every time unless it was exactly square.

(chavo_one) #8

::cough:: Please refer back to the documentation.

I count the word “square” 3 times.

(Mlehliw) #9

In the LDR it says to make it square because it isn’t sensible to make it rectangular. It does work however, I know this because when I was in the early stages of my map I made it rectangular and I was able to enter limbo just fine. It looks weird though because et will resize your rectangle to fit the confines of the square command map.

If you run around in your map at a 45° and your maxmins make a 2:1 rectangle you’ll run at a 22.5° on your command map. Which is why it is not recommended to do this. I just wanted to say that it isn’t necessary to have it be a square.

(SCDS_reyalP) #10

If your mapcoordsmins/mapcoordsmaxs isn’t square, you will be unable to generate a tracemap. :moo:

(K:os) #11

right, I’ve tried using square coords and no luck.

if i type eam allies into the console it says i’ve joined allies

however when the warmup time runs out ET dies :frowning:

You’ve got your mins/maxs backwards.

maxs = <highest x value> <lowest y value>
mins = <lowest x value> <highest y value>

Yes, that is a slightly strange definition of min and max :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, not sure if you mean to have spawnflags 3 in your worldspawn. That would only be correct if you want to make a LMS only map.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :(:(:frowning:

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

(K:os) #16

Nope, still gives the same errors

(SCDS_reyalP) #17

Oops, you also mis-spelled them. They should look exactly like this
mapcoordsmaxs 4160 -4160
mapcoordsmins -4160 4160

notice the s in coords

(K:os) #18

yay, can go into limbo :clap: :clap: :drink: :drink:

if i choose allies tho it says no spawnpoints found, checked Radiant and startactive and invunerable were unchecked, but this sets it to LMS only, i assume this is because there is no wolf objective tho?

(SCDS_reyalP) #19

You need to select the only spawnpoint entities to set startactive and invulnerable. If it is setting LMS only, you have a worldspawn brush selected.

(Moonkey) #20

ok that makes sense. I assume one would have to be a multiple of the other though.
