Expert Cases and Elite Cases.

(Faraleth) #1

These look like a wonderful idea to me, but they have one minor issue - the balance seems a little off. Currently, the odds for the cases are:

Elite Case (£3.99/$4.99):
Silver - 80%
Gold - 15%
Cobalt - 5%

Expert Case (£1.99/$2.49):
Bronze - 70%
Silver - 20%
Gold - 7%
Cobalt - 3%

So considering the cases are half the price of the Elite Cases, shouldn’t the odds be half too? For the price I can’t help but feel the odds for bronze are just a little too high, considering how easily they are acquired - not to mention the cobalt is a little skewed too compared to the Elite Case. 2 Expect Cases != 1 Elite Case odds.

Shouldn’t this perhaps be corrected to:

Expert Case (£1.99/$2.49):
Bronze - 50%
Silver - 40%
Gold - 7.5%
Cobalt - 2.5%

I feel this would make them slightly more desirable and the odds a little more fair - because right now they are a sub-par Elite Case. :c

Just a small observation I made about the game, and would like to voice my opinion on it. xP Have any of you bought Expert Cases and feel the same? It might be worth dicussing <3

UPDATE: As Feley correctly pointed out, the Expert Cases are split into 3 different types, while the Elite Cases are only 2 different types. However, I still don’t think that entirely makes up for such a large percentage of bronze cards in the Expert Cases. Regardless, would be nice to know what you all think. c:

I agree on pecentage levels, but expert cases are separated in three groups, which makes them easier to get the merc you want… So Expert cases maybe have lower chances compared to prize but you can get merc you want easier in higher rarity.

While I have not made any expert case purchases(By the way you have a typo in the title) I can absolutely see the concern here, Bronzes should be of course the majority probability but not with the values they currently have set. I would like to see the percentages changed to what you have suggested here.

(Faraleth) #4

@JesseKomm Thank you, I changed the title! XD

@Feley Ah yes, that is very true about the 3 groups - although the Elite Cases do have 2 groups. Still not 100% sure this makes up for the incredibly high bronze percentage in the Expert Cases :stuck_out_tongue: But I get your point <3

I still think the ratio of bronze:other cards should be tweaked a little in the expert ones >.<

I did open 10 Expert cases, ended up with 5 Bronze, 4 Silver, 1 gold.

Not terrible. And as far as value/price goes, it is part of the strategy to encourage buying the more expensive product I think. If it was simply half ratios there would be little point to buying Elite cases because you could get twice as many expert cases with, in the end, very similar payouts(plus a bunch of extra bronze).

(Faraleth) #6

@Ardez Better than I got that. XD And yes, I was thinking the same on it, sadly… :c

I happened to get 8 bronze, 2 silver from 10 cases, which was kinda “meh”. The odds of what you got are pretty much what I suggested to be the “normal” ratio split in the cases, so you got very good drops there

(watsyurdeal) #7

The pricing is nice, I can actually afford it every pay day. XD

For example. if you buy 100 Elite Cases you would get, if ratios hold true,
80 Silver, 15 Gold, 5 Cobalt.

If you bought 200 Expert cases at the same price, with the ratios you suggested,
100 Bronze, 80 Silver, 15 Gold, 5 Cobalt.

Now, instead, if you use the ratio actually given by the game,
140 Bronze, 40 Silver, 14 Gold, 6 Cobalt

So yeah, the Expert cases are clearly worse for the minimum payout with the real ratios, but the cobalt odds are better if you are spending the same amount of money. The difference in this case is that the expert cases are more affordable for most players.

In addition to all of this, they divide the mercs up between 3 cases, which significantly increases the odds of getting cards for the merc you want. Instead the elite cases only divide between 2 lists of mercs which makes the RNG a bit worse in that regard.

So I log in and see this thread has and I quote “4 new plural”.
The fuck’s a plural?

(neverplayseriou) #10

@Ardez 6 cobalt?

That’s actually a really good point, and I never calculated it that way! (guess who is bad at maths x3 )

(Ardez1) #12

@sensitiveJellyfish

Number of Cases X Percent Chance of Cobalt = Total Cobalts if Ratios Hold True

200 * 0.03 = 6

200 * 0.025 = 5

100 * 0.05 = 5

(p4v) #13

Expert Cases remain the worst deal in the shop. Pay €2 to likely receive a bronze card that you can buy after 3 waves of dailies which makes it 3 hours of total playtime.

(SirSwag) #14

I’d rather go back to the old system when there was only one type of elite case, but the chances of getting Cobalt was 10% instead of 5%.

(Faraleth) #15

Holy necro, dude… XD

(Backuplight) #16

HA! Coming from a Sparks main, you dirty hypocrite.

PS: All cases are terrible. Viva la loadout revolution. #theresistance

(Sytry) #17

The price for a expert case seems overpriced.

1 ELITE CASE 5 ELITE CASES 10 ELITE CASES
$4.99 $19.99 $34.99

For that price I can afford premium on several games or games on steam. I’m not saying we need to buy the cases but limited people are buying the cases.
