EXP system

(.TehTank.) #1

if this is already the case let me know, but i think that the higher difficulty the bots are that you playing against the more XP you should get for exaple ( assuming that there 4 different difficulties):

If you kill a bot on the easiet difficulty you should get 1/2 of X amount of Exp.
If you kill a bot on the second easiest difficulty you should get 3/4 of X amount of Exp.
If you kill a bot on the second hardest difficulty OR a human player you should get X amount of Exp.
and if you Kill a bot on the hardest difficulty you should get 2x X amount of Exp.

Because i dont think its fair to have to work your a** off to get those kills (hardest difficulty) and yet still get the same reward as someone who could get those kills with one hand (easiest difficulty) I may be exaggerating but you get the idea.

Anyone agree?

Yeah, that’d be a nice motivation to challenge yourself. Personally, I’ve heard nothing about this, but it would be cool.

(Mustkunstn1k) #3

Sure, why not, I guess. Although I am not a game designer so it’s up to them… I mean the difficulty needs to be scaled also. What if a new players is starting out… ofcourse he will take easy. But then it will be actually harder because he will have less abilities etc.

Because being more skilled holds no value unless you can attach or be rewarded with some virtual number? If you’re racing to accumulate XP you’re missing all the actual fun of the game. I hope SD makes that very clear.

(Mustkunstn1k) #5

Kind of off-topic: It is clear that SD uses xp to make sure that people are focused on the team-play. And you would be suprised how many people are driven by xp nowadays. You can thank Call of Duty for that.

(Nail) #6

just do objectives, way more xp for 30 seconds work, than 5 minutes of killing bots

(SockDog) #7

I understand that but just because we have to appeal to a segment (albeit a big one) of gamers who value a number more than personal progression at a game doesn’t mean SD has to do it in exactly the same way.

I’d really like to see that as you max out your character and so really should have grasped a lot of the team play aspects that the emphasis on XP is reduced. As such to the topic of this thread. Maybe once you reach a higher skill level you shouldn’t get any XP at all and just play the damn game.

Okay, I just heard some people faint!

(.TehTank.) #8

Thank you for not being obnoxious ¬_¬ but i mean not just KILLINGthem but objectives aswell so you would get a multiplyer for doing objectives on a higher difficulty as more difficult bots would mean that its harder to complete the objective

(Cankor) #9

Chances are this will be true, it is true in ETQW for instance. The way it works is easier bots have less health. Since kill XP is based on how much damage you do the XP for lower health bots is proportionally less.

No extra mechanics needed to make it work.

(Whydmer) #10

I had assumed that a kill was a kill, regardless of whether it was a bot who died or another player. That’s part of the whole seemless thing, that I won’t know through game mechanics if I am playing against bots or people. Should I get more XP if I kill someone who is a higher level than me and less if the person was lower level?

(.TehTank.) #11

Exactly

/10 char

(Cankor) #12

Well, I was sort of using a single player perspective, but it still holds up so long as the health thing (easy bots have less health) is true.

(Auzner) #13

I don’t think it will work like that. Because then killing higher level human players should also award more XP, shouldn’t it? With the way AI is in games the hardest difficulty eventually won’t be that hard anyways.

(tokamak) #14

Because then killing higher level human players should also award more XP, shouldn’t it?

Which would be a good idea as well.

(harpy515) #15

Yeah hopefully the harder the bot the more exp you get. I believe it was Borderlands that did this, but that was so long ago I can’t remember for sure.

(Mad Hatter) #16

Interesting idea, but ultimately unnecessary, I think. Because if someone wants to rapidly climb the ranks to level 20 against Easy bots, then no harm done. If said person then hops online he’ll be up against other level 20’s, so it’s not like his rushing is giving him any sort of advantage. It’ll be a disadvantage if anything, since he/she hasn’t been challenged as much as players who fought tougher bots or other human players have.

/10 char[/QUOTE]

Did you decide you liked the sig? I can use one of the other ones.

(.TehTank.) #18

Yh im using it coz i like it  but u can feel free to use anything i make … ever i feel proud when others wear what i made

(Jess Alon) #19

It’s definitely well done. I put HMB or HMBD or MBC (Mean Bastards Club) on my clan tag slot whenever it’ll let me in a game. Maybe we can get mean and heavy on some people when Brink comes out. I’ll add you on XBL.

(.TehTank.) #20

i HAVE an xbox but im getting brink for teh PS3 :frowning:
