Execution mode has just been dropped, and a lot of people seem to be having trouble working out wtf to do.
Here is a brief supplement to the overview that the DB team has already provided.
Basically, you only have 1 life and the rounds are super short. Other than that it’s pretty close to a normal Objective game. Team A attacks for 5 rounds and then Team B defends for 5 rounds (unless one team gets 6 victories, in which case they win the match).
The most important thing I want to talk about is the current META.
Obviously this new game mode means that new strategies are needed and thus far it seems as if most players aren’t really getting the basic strategies of this mode, so here is a brief summary of the basics.
-
The attacking team sticks together and hits a single objective, with as many players a possible, simultaneously.
-
The defending team spreads out and tries to kill attacking team members before they reach the objective.
WITHOUT DYING! -
Once the attacking team has planted C4 at one of the objectives the surviving members of the defending team form up and try and defuse the C4.
If they manage to defuse they win, if not they lose.
Now, this may not be the way that the players anticipated this game mode to go.
It may not even be the way that the devs intended it to go.
But it’s still the way that it’s actually going currently, at least amongst those teams that make an effort to play intelligently and stick together.
The attackers focus on a single objective and the defenders try to be everywhere at once, and then react once a C4 plant occurs.
Character Classes:
At the moment it seems as if all the character classes are equally useful, with two exceptions.
- Medics.
In a game mode where death is permanent a good medic is made of solid gold, and then covered in chocolate.
Keep them alive.
Then worship them.
And if you’re a medic then FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don’t go running in ahead of the team! Stay back and revive people. Every revive is just as good as killing an enemy player.
Think about it…
- Snipers.
Unfortunately, the nature of the map style, and the map itself, means that snipers really aren’t very useful.
And I’m really not just saying that because I don’t snipe much. I seriously haven’t seen anyone play sniper and do well in this mode.
Anyhoo these are first impressions. I’m sure that after a few more game I’ll come back and laugh at me-from-the-past for being such a dumbass.
