Execution Missions and Execution XP - some suggestions

(ProfPlump) #1

I love the game mode. I love the maps. But the XP you get is SO limited, and as a result it’s almost impossible to complete any of the normal Game Mode, Combat and Support XP missions while playing Execution.

Whenever I get an Execution mission, I end up playing 2-3 games completing that one mission, by which time I will still have only managed to get about 1/5 of the way through my other two missions (even if I’m the highest scoring player), so I then have to go and play 1 or 2 Objective/Stopwatch games to complete those other missions.

SUGGESTION:

What would be much better is if the XP you received in Execution was boosted - probably by around 2x or 3x the usual amount. That way we wouldn’t have to leave to play some Objective/Stopwatch gamemode after the Execution Mission is done - the boosted game mode, combat and support XP would make up for the slow pace and low score per minute, and this boosted XP would count towards the missions that require those specific types of XP. Plus, it would mean that Execution would be a lot more rewarding in terms of attempting to level up.

What bothers me more is that when attacking on map like trainyard (without EV for instance), if you are not the one planting because some a…h…e use their engi merc to go faster than you, there is almost no way to gain game mode XP, while in defense, all the team gain 200 for log defense, or on other maps, everyone can push the EV.

And the 10xp guard doesn’t compensate at all…

But at least in that situation you can just use the server browser to join a game on Bridge or Chapel (since they’re the best for Game Mode XP, on both Attack and Defence).

Meanwhile for the “Complete/Win X Rounds in Execution” missions, you HAVE to play Execution (usually at least 3 games worth of it), after which your other two missions only ever progress by about 25%.

The amount of games you need to play/win is way too high in Execution. That’s problem nr 1. Second is the low amount of xp. I like Execution, but I don’t want to play it for hours every day.

I dislike missions that require game mode experience because it is earned so unevenly across the different maps, modes, and sides. You can get practically endless game mode experience on Bridge if the EV is stalled at the barrier and being constantly repaired/destroyed. But in cases like the one you mentioned, game mode experience is basically limited to one player.

Combat and Support experience can both be earned reliably in basically any situation, even if it does come slower in Execution. Combat experience can also be earned relatively easily as any merc you are competent with. Support experience strongly favors medics, but there is rarely such a thing as too many medics - people are constantly getting hurt or downed. But if your team already has a couple objective specialists, good luck getting your game mode experience.

Completely agree, getting xp, and further getting the in game currency feels so slow. No matter how well you did either.

It feels the only classes to really get a lot of points is meds and engineers. I play med a lot, but I’d like to play some other characters too from time to time!

(Maybe I’m just doing it wrong, dunno. XP)

Support XP is fine, combat XP is a bit slower and game mode XP is way slower if you don’t get the bomb.

Play Execution to get the Execution round missions.

Play Stopwatch to get the other EXP missions.

Once you have finished all your missions, play whoever you want on whatever gamemode you want.

Rinse and repeat, how I play DB.

But is it actually a good thing. isn’t it perverting the game. DB’s motto is play the objective. No more K/D or stuff like that. And then, they add missions that sometimes force you to let the objective aside. I mean, you can easily tell when all your team has support mission and you fight with mostly medics… Nothing good can come out of that. I really appreciate the mission thing to earn your credit, but maybe they should be thought again. They already realised that side-obj missions were not good which is nice.

Well that’s why I try to make sure that I have multiple ways to get the specific types of XP. If I need Support XP, I’ll take an Aura. But if my team already has 2 or more medics, I’ll switch to Skyhammer and get Support XP through him (especially if no one is dropping ammo), and if both medic and fire support roles are already adquately filled, I’ll either take a Vassili and use his motion sensors, or I’ll use Bushwhacker and keep moving my turret around (you get tonnes of Support XP for picking up/placing your turret).

But obviously using playing medic is always going to be the most efficient way of getting Support XP - it’s just that if you aready have 2 medics it’s going to be difficult since they’re already taking up all of your XP by healing your teammates before you can.
