Excuse me For a Not so Thoughtful Title on a Thoughtful Subject

Hi guys, first off, it is kind of troll that I cannot use my actual account on the forum. I play with Steam and have no idea if it is even possible to use My Steam account on forums. I think not but I might be wrong.

I want to talk about changes for Dirty Bomb and the way it has been done currently. Note this is just what I thought and I might be wrong in which case just think of this as some crazy man talking. I was watching Pixel Twitch talking about Phantom Changes here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3xb-GNFdjM.

To me the moral of the story is that most people fail to provide an educated opinion on most matters and there is no changing to that. I am kind of thinking that SD catered a little too much to the popular opinion. Be it the phantom change or all future changes, SD should take opinions that are valid from experienced players on matters that can drastically change the game. I am not saying casual or newer players should not be valued but valued in a different way and on different subject matters. It is not uncommon to see people commenting on mercs that they do not own, or matters they have no knowledge on. Some of the things SD can do for example are

  1. Check if the player even owns the merc, plays with it for a decent amount of time and is of a decent level. (Level more of less represents experience)
  2. Only look at opinions that are well argued with valid support. (This means polls should only be considered with so much weight and nothing more)
  3. At times SD needs to know this is their game as much as it is our game. Not all decisions should be made by the public. SD can have more say in their own decision. Taking opinions to make something great is one thing but taking every opinion will only leave you with something that fails to become anything.
    Pixel talked about how this kind of changes can drastically affect the future of the game and how changes are made. The same goes with removing Instagib from the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rxRpV2yvY4.
    Welp… I think this is it. I am just some crazy guy wanting to talk about something about the game. Hopefully we can see SD get better at this. Keep up the good work!

@NightingaleZ0
that vid is from a few updates and 4 months ago, things have changed

SD has lots of highly experienced players that contribute constantly, Pixie has 1 opinion, there are several. Drop by the Warchest/SD forums, read some convos there

Your suggestions would require more work. It’s easier to just hear what the big community says, even if it’s stupid. If you please a bigger part of the community, more money will flow in most of the times. And now we have a merc that can only shrek newbies but is nearly useless against experienced players and in competitive.
And we probably never gonna get a viable Phantom ever again.

No, that is a fallacy. Most of the people have no fucking idea what they want, if you please them and your game becomes shit as a result, they’ll still leave because your game is garbage.

Look at SW Battlefront 2. It was designed to be without vehicles, because vehicles weren’t a thing in Battlefront 1. But then people were like, but BATTLEFIELD. So DICE crammed in jets, and the maps are way too small for them, and it’s generally a bad experience all around.

It’s sad but hopefully there could be a way to make it better.

Are you talking about battlefront 2 from like 10 years ago or are you talking about the monstrosity dice released a few months ago?

Obviously the new one. Original BF2 had no jets apart from those small gliders.

Ctrix has a point. What I am saying is that too many opinions at times would lead to indecision. Opinions only help so much and excessive opinions can only make a game feel out of place. When that happens the game will be less enjoyable and thus people will start to leave. Selective opinions can be a chore. To reduce workload, SD can select a group of diverse players varying from experience, opinions etc like a board to make decisions. At time if SD embraces an idea they can just like yup we are not going to change this or that. It doesn’t have to be a lot of work. Hell if I know SD is already doing so. The post is mostly just for discussion not criticism. I am just here to talk about stuff and if SD is doing this great, if not maybe it can help or not.
