[EVENT Suggestion]: War For Wasteland Dominance (or a better name)

(HammerOfDawn21) #1

Here is my suggestion for a event.

An event focused on objective mode where the mercs are split into two factions, CDA mercs cannot be chosen by Jackals and vice versa in objective mode for the duration of the event.

Mercs who work for Jackals (*- confirmed from scrubs trailer)

Phantom*
Sparks*
Fletcher*
Kira*
Rhino*

Aimee
Arty
Sawbonez
Proxy
Fragger

Mercs who work for CDA (*- confirmed from scrubs trailer)

Bushwhacker*
Phoenix*
Nader*
Vassili*
-Turtle-*

Redeye
Aura
Skyhammer
Stoker
Thunder

3 mercs from both factions go on free rotation.
At the end of the event, total number of matches played and number of matches won by both factions will be announced, mercs from the faction with most wins get special edition loadout cards.

A global limit on merc use would be a bad idea- now, if the event was implemented along with an “All Mercs Free” event, it might work. Even then, what happens if your squad has mercs from both factions?

Even then, there are still obvious disparities between merc balance among the mercs that can be used by each faction.

This would be better if it followed a ReV styled rotation, with certain mercs being “neutral” for a time (free rotation) and the others being mostly unaffected.

Good idea, but it actually impacts gameplay, which is a big no-no.

The Jackel Vs CDA idea would most likely be more effective if it counted the wins of each team and gave a card to the winning side.

This reminds me of the other game I was playing, where there were two factions that used the same equipment even though the characters themselves clearly are of different factions.

For example in OW there’s Talon and Overwatch. The game has specific characters that are confirmed to be of a certain faction (thus it wouldn’t make sense for Widowmaker to work with Winston but it happens anyways) but both factions use the same guys.

Or in Ballistic (pretty aged game atm) that has the MFA and the Smokes. The default skins of the more long-ranged tanky characters are confirmed as MFA, while the low-health speedsters are confirmed as Smokes, even though both factions use all the characters and classes in the game.

But in this game it’s clear that the CDA is using mercenaries and is out for extremely villainous reasons, where the CDA want to oppress the populace. There’s riots going on outside that are likely directed towards CDA’s actions.

Meanwhile Jackal is generally an unknown factor, but the fact that they have enough money to pay off mercenaries indicate that they’re not a government agency nor a legitimate resistance unit, and likely are trying to cover a paper trail.

The mercs at this point literally work for both sides, and don’t care about the repercussions of their acitons as long as they are making money. Therefore both sides use the same mercs.

I have similar idea.

Now, I didn’t put a lot of thought into this, but…

I think, if instead of mercs working for certain factions, the players would choose which faction they want to work for.
Like, first time joining during the event, the players would have a faction chosen for them, but would be able to switch, if someone on the opposite faction would want to switch as well.
Choosing a faction will not affect which side you’ll be playing in-game (If you were Jackal, you would not be just attacking).

Now that the players have decided for whom they want to work for, they play the game. The scores they achieve in matches would then be put into a collective pool for the chosen faction.

At the end of the event the faction with the largest pool would win and everyone would be getting a special case of the winning faction for one merc (chosen by the player), plus loyalty rewards.
Loyalty rewards would be faction cases that are different from the winner faction cases. You would get a set amount of this cases, depending how much time you spent in each faction (10 cases of Jackal, if you were in that faction the whole time, or 5 cases of Jackal and 5 cases of CDA, if you were 50% of the time in each faction. It would vary.)

This kind of event would be perfect for telling a bit more about each faction. Maybe a comic page every set amount of days.

Perfect fix(Well nothing is perfect, but this is Dirty Bomb, so…):
Add a system for the event where you can build two separate loadouts, one for each side.

However, this means I can’t play Sparks on any defense maps, and since Chapel’s long street is one of the best areas to play her on defense, this wouldn’t work too well.

Clever idea, but it would maybe work better if you could, instead of being forced to play certain mercs, you choose CDA or Jackal and wins on that side you achieve promote each side until, at the end, a winner is chosen.
