For anybody who knows me/played with and against me I’m up to compete. I ping 135 usually to EU servers and consider it playable.

Potty where’s the draft cup? I know you wanna roll with v586, but wouldn’t it be better to do the draft cup first 
@INF3RN0 with the amoun of organised teams out there I have decided to leave the draft cup behind for now due to the fact it is a logistical ball ache, more so with a tonne of people who we haven’t had play in one before trying to get involved. Drafting is more or less solo match making anyway now.
I am convinced we xan get 8 teams signed up this week. Fingers crossed!
what about the servers?
we have some locked servers for the cup? cuz i think “searching MM in same time” wont work in the cup 
that no merc limit rule will instantly backfire imo.
This game isn’t balanced enough to be ‘trying’ things like that, and having a failed tournament right off the bat because of admin oversight isn’t going to do the game any favors.
i would impose a limit of 1 merc per team, gives a reason to specialize and work as a team properly maximizing each classes strengths, and if anything doing this would help with the balancing act, rather that stacking 6 of the same merc.

I agree, this cup will be a shitshow without a 1 merc rule, please reconsider that rule.

Its great that a tournament is happening at all this early into the beta, it cant be everything to everyone unfortunately. Depending on the success of this one I hope there will be US ones further down the line.
I think its fair to say that dismissing something before giving it a go doesn’t make sense. Lets see how the multiple Merc work outs, if its as bad as you are predicting we can adjust for future cups. Its not a big deal really. You have to start somewhere.
I don’t even get the dilemma people seem to have over the no merc limit. A team of 5 fraggers isn’t going to get anything done, neither are 5 skyhammers, or anything else. While I agree fragger should be limited to 1, the other mercs are perfectly fine. Skyhammer has a freaking 1 minute cooldown on the airstrike, it’s not like it’d be a gamebreaking mechanic. We have Airstrikes and Artillery with 30 seconds cooldowns in ET, in RtCW even less, not to mention the full charge you get by killing out.
Class limitations, as of right now, is the least of our worries in terms of competitive viability. Augments and loadouts are. Spawntimes are. Map designs are. No friendly fire is. The fact that I can see your merc loadout and what classes you are by a simple press upon TAB is. The revive-/spawn shields need a major rework. There are so many things, way, way more important and in dire need of redesign as opposed to a silly merc rule for this game to be truly competitively viable.
Also I wonder, is that date a coincidence, potty?

This is the kind of event that can help SD sort out balancing and restrictions for general and competitive play.
Introducing arbitrary restrictions is pointless.
How will teams be selected to either attack first or defend first? This is an important detail as there are advantages to either attacking first or defending first at least in my opinion.

the argument here isnt if the game is competitively viable, its that there is now a tournament being run with no limitations on loadout/mercs, meaning a team could pull off really cheap strats like 4 aura’s and 1 proxy on defense in underground, or 2 skyhammers/artys with 3 aura’s on def on chapel… it would make the game less fun to play imo, and people may as well just join a 5v5 pub to get the same experience.
a 1 merc limit would make people think about the game more, and people playing their chosen class can specialize, and every classed based shooter i know of that has a competitive backing has class limitations in place.
if balance really is a major issue, and it is, then impose an even playing field for every competing team.
Surely it is an even playing field if everyone can pick anything?
At this stage all we can do is make assumptions, let’s see how it plays out on the day?

Then try it. This is exactly what we need to get some clear answers as to the state of the game’s balance. If we see a tactic like that dominating the tournament, this will be extremely useful information. If it’s less fun, then so be it. There will be many more tournaments to come.
Right now the game is not designed with a class limit. If it turns out to be necessary in the end, then the game should have first class support for it implemented (which is tricky since you can switch between three mercs). But first I assume that efforts will be made to achieve the sort of balance that requires a healthy mix of mercs to succeed.
Please reconsider the rule about mercs, I don’t mind loadouts that much.

about 10 months ago there was a cup with 1 merc limit and everyone were bitch about it and crying on forum for weeks. and now…ppl want 1 merc limit XD.
