As a NA player we get maybe 2-3 decent scrims a week, so it’s pretty hard to practice different strategies that we come up with. Generally we don’t want to waste the practice time so we just use a basic strategy that we think is strong. Even though we’ve been scrimming for over a month it still feels like day 1.
Evaczone BETA Cup {Sunday 29th June}
I completely agree with Anti that the best players from other games are not even present in DB yet. If you think newer players come in and become better than the rest in a short period of time, then you have another thing coming when the best players from RTCW, ET, Brink, QW and so on start migrating.
The only top ET NA players in DB at the moment are myself, prophet (the **** is wrong with you and crookk) and spookify even though I’ve never seen either of them scrim or pug. I recently saw Hebe, md20, Demanufacturer, Shewie, and mika playing so that’s nice. I don’t recall anyone from RTCW. The only top players from QW, as far as I know, are hubris and some of the F8 guys that are just joining up now.
Pretty sure that if the best players from just those 3 games start playing DB, we will all be replaced really quickly and will have a lot of catching up to do. That’s awesome because it’s the competition you need to keep pushing yourself. Without it, the game will just die out.
Being a former top player of game XYZ is absoluletly no advantage in DB.
What kind of skill do you want to transfer to DB?

well, i had a chance to play vs Cooller, Cypher, Ash (or Kook - not sure), Shadow in ru-version. yep. all the same with mid players from et/etqw/bf.
no, tell me.
I would really like to know what “pro” players can bring into DB right now.
well, i had a chance to play vs Cooller, Cypher,
And what does Cooller say?
There are no such things as item timing, map control over items and recaps right now.
I imagine him running around with a heavy and spam like everybody else.
tbh, I dont think that DB will make money with so called “pro players”.
At the end of the day, money is what counts and the usual pub player stick longer to a gamer and spends more money on items. And you dont need to be pro to see that the game in the current state is broken.
Experience, superior aim, tactical thinking, better play style, competitiveness, dedication. I think that’s plenty.
Unfortunately biAtch! is pulling out too. It was starting to get clear two days ago but I needed to get confirmations from mates.
As it stands, out of 15 people we have, barely 5 have still any interest to play, whereas only 2 of them can play on that day.
Seems like even a new patch doesn’t wake up any interest which is very sad and depressing. I guess pub on 2 still full servers is all that remains.
Sorry for inconvenience to organizers, hope it’s not too late. But there was nothing that could be done anymore.
Being good at DB is relative since its still in development. That’s why I don’t take it serious.
he adapted pretty well. made objects =) some others just stuck to snipers mostly, because it is similar to any other game.
does the sniper have any delay when switching from cross hair to scope in the RU version?
Admins should consider removing Terminal/Waterloo from the pool. The forward spawn doesn’t work. Even if you capture the spawn, the defense still spawns forward.

Making a claim that new teams catch up in a week is slightly disparaging . The actual way to stay on-top is to always train yourself, strive for improvement, and always push to do better. To claim “best teams” would also imply their is a group of teams who are at the top of their game. That statement can’t be true in anyway since most of the so-called best aren’t motivated to play consistently therefore lose the right to the title. I don’t blame anyone for not playing the game as it’s a beta and it’s got it’s own (BIG) problems, but please at least state only the truth rather than an added excuse.
Train hard, train well, play the teams you view as the most skilled, and earn the title of “the best.”
Thanks for the lesson, but I already know what it takes to get/stay on the top. No matter how small the game is there are always best players or teams. If you prefer you can call them ‘best of the few’.
Sorry, I struggle to see where I said something untrue in this regard?
Oh yes I do say so, because that’s at least my, my teams and even the opinion of some other players.
I’m surprised you haven’t realised this yet as you are probably used to another skill gap from different games perhaps. But it’s okay, it’s your opinion if you think it requires a large amount of time (months?) and effort to catch up to the best teams playing. I think the opposite though.
Lack of motivation for the game in general.
Yep, that also! The tactical possibilities are very limited and a team should also be able to outsmart their oppnents even if their aim isn’t up to the same level.
The second point is what I’ve already said many times in the past, there wouldn’t be a difference between med+ and high teams. The skill gap borders in DB are very blurry.
Not necessarily yes, but if it doesn’t pay off to invest time it’s just very demotivating and lets you question if experience in this game matters at all?
No need to worry, because it’s not.
Sorry, I can’t see why games with a variance in skill are connected with a tiny comp community? It shouldn’t be impossible, though I remember how much effort you had to put into to get on level of a team with more experience. When I started playing in beginner teams I had to work my ass off to get better. And that’s something which the game shouldn’t give you for free.
That’s something we all agree on.
The only thing you forgot is that the new teams are limited to the same circumstances as the older ones as well. I haven’t seen super crazy new tactics yet and the winner of this cup on Sunday will show no different.

Wow. Your statement really frustrates me.
You decided against things like spread pattern and other mechanics like timing explosives/teamspawns that have to be learned.
No wonder every long-term FPS-Gamer learns the game mechanics within a few days, there is absolutely nothing to discover or learn.
THIS! Summed it up very well.
Let’s better call it ‘limiting the freedom of movement’ once again.
Agreed! The Sims 3 pros are completely missing!

Not sure if you have just zero scene knowledge or if you joined yesterday, but they were already here, are still playing or have no interest in game at all. But a self-called pro (
) has probably a different understanding of who is pro and who not.
(And by the way, no one comes from Brink.
)
As with all these tournaments so far the guys running them have been aware we’re in alpha/beta and patches will happen. It’s unfortunate this update came out so close to the tournament but we need to update and need to test.
Ultimately the goal right now is for us to get the game to a polished state where comp play is really solid and we can have more players competing in and watching these events. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one for sure, and will try to grab some stats from Echo for you folk afterwards.

Nah, it was all planned so Splash Damage’s line-up begin with a better knowledge of the game in its new version!
