EV Ideas - about objective

So after having seen the EV being so slow, my brain started asking why that is.
So it came up with some reasons, also bad reasons …

  • There is a anti-vehicle satellite/ artillery, which shoots it as soon as it detects fast movement…
    bad one.

  • There is radioactivity in the air, and this vehicle does magically clean it.
    another strange/bad one, since players have no radioactive protection suite.

  • It has no power unit, or its drained already - and only special classes have a power unit with them, which allows the EV to continue its path.
    at least strange. - But it would be cool in MP I guess. As mentioned in another thread, then it would make much sense - the more players near EV - the faster it moves.

  • The road is so bad it can’t drive faster - not the case currently.
    Would make sense.

  • The vehicle is scanning the surroundings, to find the objective. Once found the tank is of no use anymore. Obviously the objective is always at same place… so Probably the EV also needs some way to open the path to the objective.
    Strange? Silly?

  • The EV is pulling something which is very heavy - well it probably would be heavy no matter whats in it, due to the protection it needs.

  • The EV is partially destroyed.
    good one at first, but breaks immersion - why can’t it be destroyed completely?

  • As smart as the EV is, it needs a FieldOps? to mark the path as clear, else it doesnt progress.
    Bad one, tedious and not fun

  • Same as above, but any player in its sight in front will make it move forward. (At a faster pace then now.)
    Could be interesting… still the question is open how fast.

  • Since the vehicle is unmanned it makes sense that it will not be driving faster then a human walks. At least that is my perception. But if its slower - it feels like a unit for a hospital with old people. If it drives at same speed, it seems like a military unit to support me. If its faster, seems like it wouldn’t need me at all - why not even faster?

These are all ideas I got for now…
I believe the more realistic a game looks like, the less is the acceptance for unreal situations. It breaks the immersion faster.
Overall I must say it seems hard to come up with any good idea for a slow vehicle. It any case its look has to match its speed. And the current EV looks like it could go easily faster.

    Would make sense.

could be a nice effect if on one futur map the EV slower down as its running a small hill or something (after the EV speed ajustment …of course )

Also the EV had show his ability to shoot a Missile to break the Activision center entrance …why not making it an available as a secondary limited weapon for the Ev driver (like one shoot with a very slow recharging…but with a devasting damage radius :slight_smile: )

Just something I notice, at the end of white chapel there is a big container between the EV and the objective door, this is just impossible for him to shoot through …

Flat battery idea makes more sense to me - EV is actually out of power so players have to get out and push :slight_smile: Explains more why it only moves when players near it (would need to replace engine sound with trundly sound). To speed things up it could move faster the more players are near it, moves slower when MG is manned.

Two things I’d like to see is modification of the speed of the EV according to road slopes or uphills, and a clear way to walk by the EV all the time, I hate being blocked by the EV

maybe the EV is so high-tech that they forgot to integrate an engine. Therefore some invisible horses are pulling it. and dude, it’s heavy load.

You guys are finding narrative reasons to excuse what people tell us is boring game play, if only we could get away with that :slight_smile:

Truth is we just need to improve this objective type, which we will do I’m sure.

Maybe, just maybe the EV is entering incredibly hostile territory and needs to keep a pace with it’s military escort unit rather than plunging straight into enemy combatants.

Should I dare proposing to make the EV actually drivable ? That would be totally unexpected, I think we would all be surprised to see how the players would use such a feature ^^ Also maybe we could put extra kinds of turrets, like unlockables (grenade launcher, single powerful shot, etc.)

This idea is either gonna be freakin hated, or adored, which one will it be ? xD
