ETScript version 0.5 ready! With AutoComplete feature!

(-SSF-Sage) #41

This doesn’t happen any more.

Ah cool!

Anyway, I’m on the way of updating it to 0.6.
A few new features I’ve added include:

[ul][li]AutoBackup
[/li]The program saves your script every x minutes to the ‘Backups’ folder. x can be changed in the options screen and can be between 1 and 99 minutes.

[li]Messagebar
[/li]Instead of showing all error messages like mapfile not found etc in an annoying popup, they are now shown in the Messagebar (see screenshot).
(Im still working on this update and it might change!)

[li]Intellisense!
[/li]Finally I managed to add Intellisense to the program.
Intellisense works closely together with AutoComplete and will show you how to use the scriptcommand you are currently typing (which is the command selected in the AutoComplete list).
[/ul]

Finally, the “Open With…” function should now work properly!

Nice one! I can seldomly see people with that much enthusiast on really making their programs better. I hope you will keep up the good work! Intellisense sounds absolutely great! I think you should add some intelligense
to the autocomplete feature, since it makes me sometimes frustrated when trying to spam me. If I remember right I had some “problemes” with it’s “intelligence”. Maybe I remember wrong. I think you should add also something to the settings to toggle autocomplete of and on and also include a hotkey for that. To let me use it with intelligence of my own. And also for those who may not want to use it, if there is someone. I think it shouldn’t be that hard to make.

Btw. I found what made my 0.5 work:

I had 0.41 “installed” to a different location, and 0.5 in different place. When I removed the 0.41, the old error ^^ came back. So If I have 0.41 and 0.5 installed on my computer, 0.5 have no errors. If I have only 0.5 installed, this error comes.

About your problem, I still think it has something to do with Window Installer. Try downloading the latest version and installing that, after deleting version 0.41.

About the AutoComplete option, there is an AutoComplete option in the Script-Writing options. You can freely turn it off or on as you wish.

What do you mean by ‘trying to spam me’. Do you mean it comes up too often, when you are typing some wm_announce for example?
Well I don’t think there’s alot I can do about it, since the program can’t know if you want to type a command or a word?
Well maybe I can have it check if the text being typed is after a " (text) or after a “//” (comments) and don’t use it if that’s the case… but that will be a hard one and will probably slow it down :frowning:
I’ll see what I can do.

Ohh! My bad. Will there be /is there a hot key for it too?

But two things that I repeat:

  1. 0.5 asks for the msi file, which was the installer of the older versions.
  2. 0.5 doesn’t ask for the msi file, if there is an older version installed (installation happens with the msi file). When I delete the older version, it asks again for it. I don’t seem this too bad problem anymore, since I could just have 0.41 installed. So I think it has nothing to do with the microsoft installer.

(Flippy) #46

I do

MSI stands for MicroSoft Installer.

What I THINK / fantasize (:P) that might be happening, which would explain this:
When you install ETScript 0.41, which uses the MSI install file, Windows might be installing some MSI reference to the registry or something. When you delete v0.41, Windows deletes this registry setting.
When you try to install 0.5 Windows checks for this registry setting and tells you that it’s not there if it’s not. It then tries to install it but failes because the install isn’t a MSI file, maybe? Not sure… but that could be it?

Oh and the shortcut, there is none at the moment and I dont think I’ll be adding one. I’m already rather short on shortcuts (lol) since the script-editor itself (which is a RichTextBox, like in MS Word) already uses alot of shortcuts and I don’t want them conflicting.

Then you could add a button to the toolbar. :stuck_out_tongue: Plz o’ plz.

(Flippy) #48

I might do that

I will see… This is not my priority atm :stuck_out_tongue:

i downloaded and installed, get following error

ETscript

run-time error “339”:

component ‘comdlg32.oxc’ or one of its dependencies is not registered : a file is missing or invalid

(Flippy) #50

Which OS are you running?

comdlg is the Common Dialog control that should be standard in most versions of windows afaik…

You could try looking for the file on the internet, it’s most likely there somewhere for download…
Then, once you download it, put it in “C:\Windows\System32” (Or D:, E:\ whatrever your windows is installed on).

(VossieJr) #51

i also get some poopup wich says :

Component ‘comdlg32.ocx’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or onvalid

my computer runs on VISTA and i often get strange things but none is simmular to this one

EDIT: i only get this thing oone time… when i click on ok it dissapears

(Flippy) #52

Does it dissapear only for that one time, does it reappear after restarting the program?
I still think it’s weird because the ocx should come with windows and afaik it’s non distributable…

Can you run the program after clicking ok? Specifically, can you open or save files, and does the program use the standard Open File / Save File browse windows?

(VossieJr) #53

yeah i do get this error everytime i start ETscript… and then the program shutdown… so i cant do anything… even open the .script with ETscript doesnt help
