ETScript 4 video's!

(Flippy) #1

The release for ETScript 4 is near! Here are a few video’s to get you warmed up. They show most of the major features; I am assuming everyone knows how to use the Cut and Copy commands for example

Misc actions (a bit of everything)
Accum List & AutoBackup Manager
Advanced Edit menu (Format selection, comment selection, etc)
Bookmarks
Class & Event List
Task Pane Docking
Intellisense
Syntax Highlighting & Options

NEW

Code Outlining

At the moment, a few video’s don’t want to play (yet?) and some of them even report errors. I am hoping this is because I only just uploaded them and that they will work in a short while.
If not, I’ll try to reupload them.

Enjoy!

New video:

Code Outlining

I’ve always been happy with using the Crimson Editor for my scripting. I tried your previous versions out but some of the limitations (particularly the lack of syntax colors) kept me from adopting it. After watching your videos all I can say is “You are a golden god!”.

That outliner thing rocks. All the rest of the improvments and functionality look top notch. I’m looking forward to ditching the crimson editor.

I’m glad to hear that. I do admit that my previous versions were not really more than an attempt to provide some more functionality instead of the basic Notepad functionality, and that was exactly what they did.

This new version however is very advanced (mostly due to the text editor I use, which is not written by me) and can really aid you much better.

I am getting closer to release it, but the main thing that is costing time right now is writing the Intellisense descriptions. Instead of the old descriptions, which I got nearly 100% from Chrukers website, the new Intellisense also features Parameter Info, which gives you a description of each parameter separately. Since Chruker’s website unfortunately does not do this, so I have to look up and write most of the new descriptions manually. Also, I don’t know what all of the parameters do, so I am slowly composing a list of questions like “what does this do”, which I am going to ask you lot later.

However, writing the descriptions is a pretty boring thing to do, so I keep the fun into it by building in more small features, which is causing it to be delayed only longer (sorry ).

I don’t expect it to be much longer however. It also depends on the free time I have right now, and since the holidays ended today I don’t have much left…

Impresive work with intellisense.

I don’t know if the docking feature is really util, but videos are greats.

Thanks.
The intellisense you see in the video is already much older. In the released beta version the list also holds all target and scriptnames, and I have added a Parameter Info feature which gives you the description of the parameter you are currently working on.

And the docking is mainly so you can suit your own preferences. I could have used fixed windows, but I don’t see the point. You can leave them fixed if you want, you don’t have to move them! It’s just the fact that you can, should you wish to, that I decided to put it in.
