you have time to give infractions to a harmless spam that I am, in the thread about the shame of SD being unable to get hold on it’s own community forums, but you have no time to actually coontact Activision and get the old forums archive back. Even no time to post a single official SD comment on the situation. ****ing nice one.
brutt01d, all feedback regarding moderator actions should be PM’d to one of the moderators or administrators of the forum. You’re not doing yourself any favors by raging at one of the people maintaining this place.
As for your concerns, we totally hear you, but there’s very little we can do from our end. Unlike what you state in your post, the Community Site and forums aren’t owned by Splash Damage - they have always been id Software’s (and now ZeniMax’s) property. I can’t speak for either of those companies, but they certainly haven’t been idle on this.
There are quite a few SD comments in this thread, just look up Badman’s posts.

Thank you very much for posting this. People enjoyed visiting that place, put a lot of effort into it and it’s sad to see all that going to waste. That sentiment colours a lot of the reactions here.
People are confused about this. Who’s responsible, who can do something about it and who actually cares?
It’s good to know people are still doing their best to resurrect it.

Thanks for that info Badman. This comes as a surprise, as we have discussed the Actifail forum problem already for months by now. Wish we had this info much earlier.
So why did id take the forums down then in the first place? Don’t think that it was some kind of hardware fail or something?

So it sounds like the forum database and the site content belonged to iD and were hosted on Activision’s domain until iD got bought up by Zenimax?
Would that imply that the community got the shaft because Activision no longer wanted to use their resources to host what amounts to a competitor’s support site?
If it does mean that, should we be barking up the Bethesda/Zenimax support tree instead?
