No need for that. A couple of us decided to chip in and we actually hired two groups of monkeys to get the job done.
We have one group working on the replication of the text and html code, the other group is working on the screenshots. Our secret hope is that the first group will be able to come up with the exact email message that will get the forums restored.

Do you think the ETQW main server is in danger? You know, the one for the actual game (you’re still playing it, right?

Is it operated by F**ktivision, too?
Seriously, can a main server be setup by a third party if necessary?
Direct IP connect isn’t actually promising enough for an ample playerbase…
Or will we not care about this when Brink is out anyway?

what main server? the stats are the only thing Activision still has running (terribly)
the rest depends on who you as a server owner host your server with…? or is that just my brain overloading with Philosopher Essays to write?
The authentication server for verifying/logging accounts online. I would think activision maintains that, too.
it would kind of stink if ETQW online is totally done for. But considering that Doom 3 is still alive, we won’t see the demise of ETQW any time soon.
Even if the low probability of having ETQW online totally bite the dust happens, it doesn’t matter to me anyway. I just create lan server and shoot at walls anyway.
But unlike doom 3, playing one on one in ETQW just doesn’t work, unless you, as a player, make a new game mode out of it.

Server list can be obtained from Demonware’s site. Demonware is full owned by Activision. Looks bad… :I

Console ETQW uses peer to peer hosting via online console. The PS3 server is probably controlled by Sony and the XBox by MS, so these have a better chance to stay running than we’ve seen AV provide for their stats servers.
