ETMain Clan Mod Problem

(Xinux) #1

Hi, my names rick. I’m new to this db so i apoligize if this issue’s been covered in the past, but either way i was unable to find an answer. Here’s my problem…

I’m the server admin of an ET clan and for the last few weeks, i’ve been putting together a few mods for my clan members. I’ve got 3 servers (1 jaymod, 1 etpub, and 1 no quarter), each which has their own designated mod (for such things as in-game sounds, gfx, custom quick chat menus, etc). These mods download from the server perfectly, but in addition to these mods, i’ve also created a mod for the etmain dir, which is being problematic.

This etmain mod was designed to just over-ride a few of ET’s default menus and menu sounds, but the problem is that when i upload it to the server and restart, the server will not force the client to download this file. This causes the mods i created for the etpub, no quarter, and jaymod folders to be disfunctional and obviously wont let people use this mod as it was intended.

It’s interesting to note however that even though the server is pure, someone with the needed file in their etmain (the file that won’t download automatically), will still experience and see the mod and changes to the game. This told me that the servers reading my etmain mod correctly, but simply isn’t forcing any clients to download it.

Aside from adding a campaign to the scripts folder of this etmain mod and referencing it in the server, is there anything else I can try that’d force people to automatically download this mod when connecting to the server? Any help would be appreciated…

I believe that’s the only known trick so far - adding a certain file to the pk3 to trigger the download. It used to work for campaign files, but I’m not so sure if there are other file types as well.

when you say “mod” I guess you mean skins packs sound packs etc…
well then you have to put it in the mod folder
so on your jaymod server you put the pk3 in the jaymod file on your FTP
on NQ server you put it in the noquarter file on FTP
on etpub server you put it in the etpub folder on the FTP

then clients are forced to download it as long as it is said so in the server.cfg
if you put it in etmain it is an optional download (luckily otherwise you would have to download all the maps in an etmain before you could play on the server)
