Are there any ET custom map review sites on the net?

Thx.

The only one I’m aware of red is http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/rf/

Although some are skeptical of the reviewing consistency there.

Not suprised, me and Rivrstyx are top rated

I think most people like to host them without judgement.
If a site rated files particularly, it might as well dispence with the crap ones, but of course file hosting sites aren’t interested in that really, they just want to be ‘popular’.

The site Chavo lists would be good if it had more reviewers - the more there are the more balanced an opinion you get for each map.

So go on people, volunteer

You complaining about being at the top for the moment? Anyways i’m new to this reviewing stuff as well. I’m still getting a feel for this reviewing stuff. I’ve also pointed out countless times for more reviews because not everyone is not going to agree with me. I want more reviews to get a better scope of the opinions. also some of the earlier score may seem a bit odd but thats because they were my first reviews and i’m a newb at scoring.

Nah I wasn’t complaining, the smiley was meant to be a winking one - ; ) only for some reason here it just looks like a really angry one

It was more a joke for RivrStyx I suppose, we both have certain views on what constitutes a ‘quality map’

I’d review maps too, only I R harsh critic, but I meant it when I said other people should volunteer, as we both know, the more reviews the better the overall picture.

FWIW, for Quake3, lvl and polycount do an excellent job of rating maps (planetquake.com/lvl) and models/skins (planetquake.com/polycount). Take a look at their reviews.

One of the things I did like about Field Reports, is that you break up the rating into 4-5 different areas. That lets you mark up a map very highly on technical merit yet ding it on creativity, like the Base TC. That, I think is helpful. One thing that might help you out, is to document or describe, for each criteria, what constitutes a 1-5. Get input from the community here. Not only would it help your readers, but new mappers would be able to take a look at the criteria and know some of the big picture issues they need to tackle.

Ok now i’m also positive you mentioned that site to me before last time my review site got on to the forums.

I gave it an atempt a long time ago(look under scoring). I’m going to redu that in point form later when I have time(and rember
 ) because i wasn’t completly happy with it only just enough to put it up and forget about it.

I particularly like the lvl review site most for they dont put an exact score to each map review. This allows them room to give a more appropriate reflection of what the map is really all about by actually describing the map instead of just throwing up a number that doesnt really mean anything.

Perhaps adopting a similar protocol would be rewarding SirLiveAlot.
