You may have the RTCW Den of lions map which won’t work. I haven’t redone den of lions for ET and if someone did… they screwed it up. Might wanna check to see if its the RTCW version.

Maybe you also have the resurrection RTCW Vesion… RTCWFiles i don’t think specified it being the ET version…they just put up resurrection (FULL).

Heres the ET version.

I’ll see if i can get them to put ET in front of the file DL… kinda confusing. The zip file is named ET_Resurrection though.

the ressurection skins /sounds were the scourge of any rtcw mod maker, and would keep cropping up as the default skins for players when capping movies. In the end i deleted it because it came so f(&(&(*king annoying.

Please don’t make them so annoying in ET, infact, why use them at all?

What did the skins have to do with mods? and movies? Dude what are you talking about?..lol. Your not the smartest apple are you. If their not on your hard drive you won’t see them. The skin.pk3 is in ET and was in rtcw…seperate from the map.pk3. Just remove the skin.pk3 and the map.pk3 is still there. Maybe you should have had someone read the text to you. :bash:

Just don’t put them in your etmain directory if you don’t want to use them…lol. I think i said that…now go read

i said RTCW. As this appears to be the same map and skin/sound pack that was originally released for rtcw. Please don’t criticise my lack of intelligence when you haven’t even taken time to read my response correctly.

I did read it and made no sense (wasn’t much to it)… its not the same same map or skin pk3. It didn’t effect mods at all and movies in rtcw it could have if the one making the movie had the skins installed. I’d think that person would have known. There is no sound pack and there wasn’t a sound pack in rtcw. So what am i to think?

okay… here’s where i’m coming from.
I make rtcw movies. I used to download every rtcw custom map.
one day i install the ressurection map, which correct me if i’m wrong comes with the skin / model / sound packs by default.

Now, i have a demo recorded in either vanilla, or osp, or any other mod you care to mention in rtcw. I play back this demo in either vanilla, or osp, or again, any other mod you care to mention, and the ressurrection model / skin / sound pak also opens with the demo. I suggest you try it if you think i’m “shitting” you.

This not only ruins demo playback because i have crazy-ass zombie radio voice commands slowed down in an attempt to achieve a zombie sound, but i also get zombie skins. This next point i could be wrong on, so don’t quote me on this. I also had cases where specific standard textures / shaders would not work with the pk3 (either the skin/model/sound pak, or the map) installed. mp_base was a prime example where half of the textures would not load correctly.

My original post in this thread was supposed to highlight this misgiving and unfortunate ‘feature’ of the original skin / model / sound / map pack, and how i thought it was a ‘feature’ that where possible should not be replicated over to ET.

Personally speaking, whilst i find the map kind of nice, i find the skin / texture / sound pak especially annoying both in play of the aforementioned map, and also during non-map/mod specific demo playback.

Ok now listen… read the WHOLE thing here…and let it sink in… last time i try to get it through your thick skull.

I’m not getting sensitive… i’m annoyed. I also said above somewhere…and in the read me… if the skins are on your PC and you start the game locally (goes without saying) …of course you see them. doh. If the skins are on your PC…of course when playing back a demo in any mod you see the skins. In the readme it explained that and to remove the skins… z_resurrectionskins.pk3 which was seperate from the map and you would see them on all maps if the server had them on… again and locally if you started rtcw or ET without going online…of course you see them…think about it. Your starting a server yourself and have them on your PC. If you didn’t read the read me…thats your problem. Thats why you should have had someone read it to you. They didn’t screw up any mod or demo by seeing them…it was you didn’t remove the skin.pk3…doh. If you had…you wouldn’t have seen them playing the demo back or heard the voices (which was part on the skin.pk3). Thats all you needed to do and was spelled out for you in the readme from the beginning. If you didn’t want the skins…remove the skin.pk3…you wouldn’t see them locally then or ever online.

The skins had nothing to do with your problem with mp_base and the textures.

so why didn’t you remove the skin.pk3 from the beginning? The map didn’t have to be removed only the skin.pk3?

The quote you quoted was about something different. When auto downloading the map the skins don’t auto download of the server… if they don’t download of the server i said go get the “Axis zombie Skins only” so you didn’t have to download the whole map. The skin.pk3 was called z_resurrectionskins.pk3

Its not about getting sensitive like i said…its about explaining something to someone that isn’t the smartest apple around. Your going to argue with me and have no idea what your talking about.

Last time…If you had read the readme file…right at the top it explained that you would see the skins …yada yada yada… if you don’t want the skins go to your rtcw/main directory and remove the z_resurrectionskins.pk3. If read that all your problems would have been solved… you wouldn’t have seen them locally playing demos in any mod, online, or anywhere…bottom line

hah… i can only assumed you’re annoyed because a lot of people have complained for both rtcw and et.

‘buddy’, i aint thick, i just love winding clueless people up and making them lose their tempers on forums. Mission…accomplished. you’re quite possibly one of the best case of gamers being insultive at the slightest comment, question, or criticism. I’ll leave you to your issues, and your obsessions with apples.

tbh, if i download a map… and lets be quite fair here… i download a map. i don’t expect it to have such wide ramifications to the rest of the game. This is a generalisation, in that a map pak shouldn’t alter gamewide shaders, or any game wide elements, it’s just a case of bad modding tbh. you could argue that this post isn’t related to this ET re-release of the map / skins… and i’m sure you will, what with all the issues you obviously have. but it’s a comment modders/mapps/skinners should take on board to anyway.

Shao listen dude. I don’t know what to tell you or what your game is but you call me clueless and your the one that couldn’t figure out why you saw zombies in your demos. I’ve explained it but it doesn’t seem to sink in. Of course i’m annoyed…not over criticism but over stupidity. You’ve accomplished nothing but making yourself look foolish at not knowing what your talking about. They were skins… skins do that…they change the default characters to something else…been that way since the beginning of online gaming…lol.
Damn dude… you need to stop while your ahead.

Oh… And it almost sounds , with all your accusations i’ve changed original shaders and original elements, your one of Markos buddies trying to get me back for posting about his practice of replacing original shaders with his own textures and screwing up mappers. He didn’t take the hint privately …so if he did publicly … i happy with that. None of my maps have ever changed original content or game elements…with the exception of the skins… which are suppose to change the characters. Thats what skins do. sorry… it didn’t work homio…try something else.

Anyways, Styx, I tried the pointer to the ET_Resurrection .zip file but the binaries were the same date and size. So I think that we do have the right ones. As far as these client crashes, so you think there might be a way I could setup a debug session in the engine somehow to at least get some reason as to why it is crashing?

I do intend to do a resurrection trilogy campaign. I’ve gotten quite a few requests to convert DOL and callfire over to ET but kinda want to move on to something new and start on the sequels so to speak. Not sure yet which i’m going to do first but probably move on and convert in between somewhere if i decide to do that. Gonna kill a little bit more first before i start on anything… :banana:

What kind of error are the clients getting? Maybe have one of them start the host and try that. Is this a lan? a dedicated server? or your just hosting over the net?
Like i said remove or move Trainyard, Canage Canyon, or Desert temple and the DOL map (Its the RTCW version or someone else converted it to ET and screwed up the scripting) to another folder. Not sure what other customs you have. See if that works first. Is it just resurrection or other maps also besides DOL.

The only map that is bad is trainyard and that’s only because of the textures!!! You guys are really acting like children, just because marko made a mistake with the textures he suddenly creates sucky maps and there all bad, even if they don’t contain more stuff than others. You should stop blaiming him for a mistake, he couldn’t know it since he released the first ET map. And, what is wrong with carnage canyon and with desert temple? I need PROVE! Think about this before you’re gonna **** up his reputation.

He did it in RTCW also and was talked about i remember reading… changed original shaders with his own textures …but kept the shader name. What can i say i got a phobia. Its not about as you say …acting like children…its about screwing up someone elses hard work because hes lazy. I’m sure theres plenty of players that don’t care what he does and if he changes original shaders to his textures…but mappers do when there maps on a server with his and its not what they intended or they texture something only to find out its not the original. I don’t have time to see which of his maps he did it with and which he didn’t. If hes changed his ways i’m sure he’ll be fine and no one said his maps suck…just that they may make other mappers maps suck. It only takes one map expecially when it was rushed out to be the first so theres alot of downloads for it and possibly on alot of servers and he knew better and of course he should have known being the 1st map or not…theres proof. Drakir i think was the second map… if he did that also would it be well it did the second map and couldn’t have known…well he did know and didn’t do it.
I got enough problems with dudes saying that skins messed up every mod, demo, and the base map in RTCW and exceeding my website bandwidth . :confused:
