SD is seeing all these things, the problem is that Free2Play as a business model(waves at Nexon) means that things have to be kept ‘in-doors’ for it to be profitable. Allowing a lot of outside influences or ways for the community to stop using the main services means the model can’t be applied anymore. This mostly applies to the whole server discussion.
To a degree this also applies to maps if they just allow people to do whatever they want. Think a system where mappers can send in a playable version to SD and they test them in doors and pick 2/3 to be played over 2 months on all servers, then a community vote and the most voted map gets added permanently(kinda like CSGO does with its operation maps). That way we can have a proper test platform for new maps, and get rid of all the completely broken and ****ty maps up front. Things like Trickjump mods or Promod won’t happen as it simply doesn’t work with the modern F2P model, if it comes it will come from the devs themselves. That way they control what things are effected and what is not, which is the key to F2P.
edit: before you say ‘but ET is free’, ET was supposed to be an expansion for RtCW but because the SP was broken or w/e they released the MP as freeware. Essentially it was a failed project from day 1, but because the MP was finished they decided to release it and it’s sdk to the public and it took off. Which was 90% because of the community taking it somewhere because ET on release was pretty broken as-well.
