After 7 months work to give the six-standard-maps a new design it’s finally done.
A bunch of screenshots and download-mirrors are avaible on the website to this mod:

I hope a few people like the changes, it contains more details as shown on the screenshots.

Description:

This mod gives all six standard-maps a new look (Radar contains only detail-changes).
The pk3’s include only the needed files, no bloat or scripts are included.

Note:

Only the textures will be changed, the gameplay of the maps itself is not affected!

The mod is server-sided, this means if the gameserver is running this mod (or it’s an unpure-server) every player who installed the pk3’s into the etmain-folder will see the changes - others not.

The mod is split into two parts, “z_european-style_sb+so+gr+wr.pk3” changes only Seawall Battery, Siwa Oasis, Gold Rush and Würzburg Radar. The file “z_european-style_fd+rg.pk3” gives only Fuel Dump and Rail Gun a new design. So it’s compatible with the mod “Less Snow for Fuel Dump & Rail Gun”. And for thoose who only dislike snow-maps and want the other maps untouched.

Changes:

Fuel Dump: Summer-scenario, includes a lot of details
Gold Rush: Looks now like an old city
Rail Gun: Autumn-scenario, no snowflakes but still fog
Seawall Battery: Normandy-style
Siwa Oasis: Ancient ruins
Würzburg Radar: Only changes in a few details

looks nice, few small strange things:

You can plant landmines in stone or when you shoot the stone sans still splashes up or some times a texture is would but when you shoot it it acts like stone.
I know this isn’t changed but it just fees wrong.
Something you could have fixed is when you shoot the grass in fueldump, you still see snow splash up (you can change that texture to sand)
Some textures look strange (goldrush the little wall near the commandpost)
The texture in side the tugs looks weird (the floor of the tug)
The roof of the guardhous in fueldump looks very out of place.
You could have fixed some of the windows in Oasis (splashdamage had some ugle textures there and you just kept then in there)

Just a few things you want to look at in the future.
Don’t get me wrong, I really like what you did, it gives the map a fresh look.
Just trying to help.

I don’t get you wrong, I know there are more small strange things like in Fueldump a tunnel-exit (concrete and no grass) or if you leave the first axis-spawn (grass and no concrete on the floor).
This was simply impossible, the original-map say’s wich texture will be used and in wich direction. I tried to hold this things so small as possible.
Tried to turn the snow-splash into a another one (earth or sand), but there is no texture for the snow-splash (or was I blind?). nUllSkillZ said it’s possible to change this with editing a shader-file. But if the mod would contain scripts the mod will be downloaded to the client and is not more a option for the players.
The window-textures in oasis are really changed, no big thing, just a little bit color and texture to make them fiting with the walls.
That you now can plant a landmine on a floor-texture (like in goldrush) is normal, the place where you can plant or not is not changed (the gameplay is not affected).
It’s just a new look for the maps, made for gameservers running standard-maps and for players who want to see the maps in a new design.

I’d make it so that clients should download the file.
Doesn’t these different texture sets give advantages to some who don’t have it? (Like you can spot a player far better on a white background then a black background, if the player model is mostly black like the axis)

It seems to be about 37MB big. Wouldn’t be a good idea I think.

It’s not true that a client MOST download it when there are shaders or scripts in the .pk3
I’ve been trying to do that for almost over half a year and without succes.
If a client has “do not download missing files” then he will NOT download any file, scripts/shaders or not.

got it. unfortunately i’t uses the same .tga as the water.
\models\weaphits\water_splash.tga
But with a little shader editing you should be able to fix that.

Right. It’s annoying if you join a server to play a custom-map and the server downloads you 37MB. And not all people like changes in the maps, so it’s up to the players if there want to see it or not. 5 or 6 MB are ok for me, but 37MB is really to big.

Yes, but if the player turned “Do not download missing files” off, he will be kicked from the server wehen a custom-map comes who is not in his etmain. :-/
The shader-editing is a good idea for a small mini-mod, it still looks good on snow-maps if dirt splashes when you shoot the ground. Have seen this in the map Eisfaust Festung.
But I still need this shader-thing for the next project.

I only* replaced the textures and a few sounds.
*needed nine months…

Too gray-looking imo, some nice stuff here and there tho, like terrain outside the AT guns at oasis.

How do you have got the original .map files?
I want the original .map files tooo but i can only find the .map file of goldrush

The .map files are not changed.
It’s just a “skinpack for the stock maps”.
