ok i recently started using the saving private ryan sound pak and it changed my opening screen to a rather ugly black and white image of the private ryan movie poster thing. after opening the pak i tried to replace this image with a tga of my own in the correct file path “/ui/assets” and the exact same name, but all this managed to do is crash my et. what format and dimensions does the file need to be to work correctly?

You shouldn’t be changing an existing .pk3. You won’t be able to use the modified one on pure servers. If you don’t like the splash screen, don’t use the sound pack.
As for size and format, I suggest making it the same as the original. Format should be 24 or 32 bit tga, or a normal (24 bit, non-progessive) .jpg.

You can make a copy of the original .pk3 then use the copy and go to the file that the pic is in and erase the pic(the original pic will show up then when you play ET). Then create the same .pk3 with same name etc. and put it into the ET/main but take original out. (you must have the same name as the original or it wont work!) I had a BOB sound pack by my friend konigstiger and all i did was just deleted the file that the pic was in and it worked fine on pure servers that had the mod.
