ET Headshot 2 Beta release

(kamikazee) #1

This re-conversion is finally good for a beta release!

The concept stays the same: 1 arena, 2 teams.
Whilst et_headshot was a total reskin, this one closely resembles the original mml_headshot map for RTCW.
What’s new is the fact it has a way of determining which team has won, autoclearing the arena and keeping the score. Perfect for those little battles!
Due to the size of the original, the map is best played with 2 vs 2.

Some instructions:
There must be at least one player of each team in the pit before a duel can be started.
The duel can be started from eather side, just make sure the lights are green.

The layout can be toggled from the switches on the wall. To avoid trouble between teams for changing the layout right before the duel, only the losing team can change it.

Nice
I will have a look @ it right now!

(Pytox) #3

I’ve played it on Fg server (et.foolishgames.net) and it was really fun!

(kamikazee) #4

New mirrors appeared without me knowing it, I’ll change the top post for you convenience.

I had to find this out all by myself: some textures are missing when hosted on a server that has not got the lights.pk3 supplied with GTKRadiant.
I’ve packaged these two textures into a pk3 and zip file so you can put it on your server untill I get a beta 2 done. Here it is: http://users.pandora.be/jtc/maps/et_headshot2_b1_texfix.zip

Sorry for the inconvenience!

That’s why you always test in a pure environment without any other PK3s. There are textures and models from other Radiant files that won’t make it in either.

Good work kamikazee !"
Nice fps !

Must try it

(kamikazee) #8

I tested it in a pure environment, but I accidentally put the lights.pk3 in it. (Just overlooked it as is stood right next to mp_bin.pk3)

During some games, I noticed a few things which may go to the to-do list:
-Teams should be unable to change layout whilst a battle is going on. The losing team can now abuse this to remove the other team’s cover if they were seeking shelter behind a ‘toggle-able’ object.
-Duel buttons should be replaced by ‘Ready’ buttons. This is due to the fact the duel could be started by the other team once one player is in the pit, leaving the 2nd player on your team watch the pit close without him.
-Include a simple ET Pro script in the zip file so the timelimit can be set to 0. Admins could put this on the server if they want to.
I’ve seen a server claim that first to hundred wins, but the timelimit allways stopped this from happening.

ok nice map, but have changed the script file to make the timelimit go to 0…

(neo) #11

i have made an whole config for the etheadshot map

(neo) #12

and i have an mirror on an private ftp :S

(kamikazee) #13

I didn’t want to set the timelimit to zero in the script by default, but if you want I could make some way of setting it trough a cvar. E.g. “sv_headshot2_forever 1”
The game would then run untill one team reaches 100 and won’t stop because your out of time.

What about another button which toggles wm_setwinner -1/0 for example? It’s independent of any time limit and you won’t need a server admin to upload a pk3 or set some cvar. I know it works when you change wm_setwinner from -1 to either 0 or 1 while the game is running, but I can’t say what happens when you want to disable it when a match is in progress.
If you need information about using a cvar, you may want to have a look at this script: Download. Everyting you need is in the game_manager part.

Thx for the idea!
Currently, the script constantly switches the team supposed to win, if allies take the lead, it changes wm_setwinner, and once axis get the lead it’ll change it to their team. If the game is tied, it’s -1 so the game keeps going untill there’s a winner.

EDIT: I’ll probably make it this way: every team has a button they can toggle. If both buttons are pushed in, the ‘play to 100’ mode is enabled. Once they both get toggled in their original position, the mode is disabled.

(neo) #16

yeah that is an good idea
