ET Effects

(th0rn3) #1

Ok, so I decided to make some cool ET mapping effects, film them and post to the public with a quick how-to in youtube description box.
I will update (edit) this topic when I make something new.

  1. Falling door. This one is simple but effective looking. Map/Script
  2. Catapult. Just a simple short-range catapult. Map/Script

Wow, like that effect.

not bad, but i think it would be better if u would attach .map/.script file instead of putting it in description.

(th0rn3) #4

Okay, I added a zip

(Magic) #5

Looks very realistic - good stuff.

(shagileo) #6

very nice and useful !!
I’ll keep an eye out for this topic

hey r u able to make a laser of a kind… i kind of had an idea of making little attachment to et_mor’s lab i think lasers just would fit perfectly, but unfortunately i found nothing for ET with the google…

about the falling door… its kind of against the physics that u dyna the bottom but upper part of the door starts moving instead… ofcourse we all know this from venice nad is very cool when tank does it :stuck_out_tongue:
with the dyna i suggest that the door splits vertically to 2 or more parts and the bottom of the doors moves as the blastforce pushes it

there was in some map with a little trainyard which had a door what after blowing it up flies like 2-3 meters backwards and then the crates stop it and its nice and curved from the blast :stuck_out_tongue:

ask zerocool. he made a nice small map with lasers.

I’m making one atm
In this topic btw: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=185538&postcount=74

Script is on right side in description of the movie.

(too short)

(th0rn3) #12

I attached it later

(IndyJones) #13

i know.

i’m not really a mapper…but when u use a dynamite into a door…(i hope this is a steel door) it would fall the other way…wouldn’t it? but otherwize…COOL!!!

(shagileo) #15

That would be awesome

Ill try to make that blast thing. But its not really against the physics with my door. I saw in discovery science, they blew up very similar door. The door was so strong, that not explosive blasted it, but vibration made by that explosive… And because potential energy gets stronger with height (mass * 9.8 * height), it started falling from the top…

(rambo13) #17

maybe u r right, but i bet 99,99% of ppl who see that thing what u have made, havent seen that show from discovery, including me and i watch alot of it :stuck_out_tongue:

but if the door is made out of two segments, right and left one, like was ur door, 1st the door just blows apart from the middle as the lock or something had broken, the i think the hinges (the things what fixes the door to the door frame) will broke and then the both sides will fly in different direction… maybe spinning around its center of balance

(th0rn3) #18

I watched it in russian discovery maybe 5 years ago

UPDATEDPost too short
