[ET] Eder Dam

(Higgins) #1

I am currently working on a map based on the Eder Dam. The objective to the map is to destroy the inside of the dam, to shut it down. Also you will have to destroy an aa gun so that the dam busters can fly in safely.

The map is still being made, but the main parts are done. I only have to create stuff for the top of the dam where the allies will spawn, also where axis will spawn, on the other side of the lake.

Once the map is 100% complete, ill post the screen shots. Then I can script the objectives and have the pk3 made up. Once this is done ill host it on my server, and let you all test it out.

so whats the point of this thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, the topic name should better bear a [WIP] tag, to show it’s an informative thread on something’s that going to come.

@Higgins: I hope you can pull this map off nicely, as there’s allready a version of this concept in CoD single player.

I know there is a map in cod of eder dam, its where I got the idea to make the map from. Like the one from Cod, in my map you will have to destroy generators and aa guns, so that the bombers can fly in without being shot out of the sky.

That level actually sucked and was BORING. Dam of RtCW was MUCH better

I liked it in it’s context.
But I must agree I’ve played the RTCW version much more and had fun with it.

There is a cool (fictional) novel by Alistair McLean about a damn in Serbia in WW II. Actually its a kind of sequel to The Guns of Navarone, starring the same characters. Anybody who likes to play RtCW and ET should read some of his WW II books sometime

He also wrote Icestation Zebra (movie with Rock Hudson, kinda sucks though) and Nevada Pass (movie with Charles Bronson, its a bit better). Most of his books are about the war on sea. The books are like… you pick them up at 10pm for a bit of reading and finish them at 5am

The book, and movie, is called Force 10 from Navarone and is set in Yugoslavia. It stars Harrison Ford, Carl Weathers, Robert Shaw, Edward Fox, Richard Keil (famous for playing the part of th character Jaws in some James Bond movies) as well as Barbara Bach (who also makes appearances in James Bond movies such as the Spy Who Loved Me and some others that I don’t recall right now).

Isn’t it obvious? By posting this he is putting preassure on himself to finish off the map. The last 5-10% of the map is always the most boring/time consuming one, so, GO GO GO!!!

Harrison Ford

…who has a short side role in the best anti war movie ever… now guess which one I mean
