ET development environment setup question

I’m learning the hard way (isn’t that always the case) that you really need to separate your play environment from your mapping one. Of all people I should know this since I design and manage these type of things at my day job but I was wondering if I can safely install ET twice in two different locations and have Radiant point at the mapping install. Will ET install support this or do I just do an install of ET normally and copy that to a working directory where I do my actual mapping. Wondering how people have their systems setup?

Yes you can have multiple installs, it’s recommended.
