hey guys,

i’ve been working on my first ET map for quite a while and it is now almost finished, so I decided to do a beta release.

it’s some kind of rtcw assault for enemy territory. but i just adopted the ground layout of the map, but changed and added a lot of stuff, so that the map know doesn’t have much in common with the original but the 2 towers, a big flight field and the gate area.

i hope u enjoy it

Looks really nice, but that plane is from RTCW isnt it? If you did not know, u cannot use anything from RTCW that isnt already included in ET.

In the same way that you cannot exceed the speedlimit on a public road, or injest interestingly poisonous substances in your home. If you are not afraid of the copyright gestapo busting down your door, it is entirely between you and your conscience.

The tire textures for the truck near the Allied spawn are missing, as are the textures for that cannon or whatever on the roof of the base. And the tanks in that one area don’t have any treads and such, and they’re floating in mid-air, as a result.

I still can remember an interview with some Nerve or Gray Matter guy you said that it is totally ok to use textures from Wolf since both games are released under the same license. Guess that should include models aswell…

Just do not always start yelling “omg peeps stop ripping copyrighted content”…

btw the interview was posted here as well and afaik it was busted at once…

I just did a walkthrough of the map. It’s very nice looking with allot more areas/changes than was in mp_assault.
I like the way the tank smashed through those doors. It’s fairly big feeling with allot of boxes, places for cover.
One minor thing I would maybe add would be in the Comm room. I know there are signs everywhere that say “Comm Room” but could you put a pop up hint like “you are near the damaged radio parts” or something so people would know easier they are near the area to be repaired? When they get inside the Com Room that is.

I would be very nice if someone confirmed this… simply because it would save everyone a lot of time and energy… I’ve had models / textures created from scratch that could have easily taken from RTCW. Also, being able to use more models / textures will make maps look nicer and give level designers more creative latitude.

nice map! :clap: But it looks like you are missing textures on a flak cannon. Above just past where the tank is repaired.

Also, I guess you did not build in the end objectives yet?

The objectives are in, the marker’s still missing though. In one of the two towers there’s some documents you need to bring to the comm-room.

ERROR: Map ‘et_assault_beta’ isn’t a valid campaign starting map. Set your gametype to 2 to load it directly.

We really wanted this map in a campaign but it doesnt seem to load correctly. Will it load in a campaign?

Please let us know. we would like to get it in a campaign for people to pub on.

We havent had a prob with other custom maps in a camp.

anyone known an alternative link for this map? I cant see it at the usual suspects and pcgamemods has been 404’ing for me the past few days :frowning:
