Escort missions

(Garphy) #1

In the video from the full version of Brink(aquarium map), speed of escorting bot(human) very slow. He is so slow, that I want him to shoot himself. This speed must be encreased, because with current speed this objective is not suitable for competitive play. This low speed kills pace of the game

We need cvar to adjust escorting bot speed.

I’m sure there’s a netvar, It doesn’t seem too slow when compared to vehicle transport missions ect.

or just refrain from playing hostage escort maps in competitive play. people don’t play payload maps competitively in tf2 and it’s basically the same style of objective. better yet just don’t play competitively at all.

Not to sound like a dick but I didn’t know you had an advance copy of the game. How about we wait to play it to see how its balance. I’m sure it’s balanced just fine but I wouldn’t make a judgement call based off of a video.

In ET and ET:QW escort maps are played though.

Well it is more or less the same speed as the tank in Goldrush (w:et), a map which was played in competitive play

We need the power

I think that the escort missions will be very fun and exciting to play.
That said, i can already imagine myself getting annoyed at the limping bastard. He really does move extremely slowly.

not sure if serious.jpg

how can currently anyone tell if his speed is suitable or not, when nobody played the game yet?

Quickly, get this guy ingame!

(.Chris.) #12

Have you actually played these escort missions yet? Tank and trucks were slow as hell in ET, MCP was slow in ET:QW yet maps with them included were still playing for clan matches. In both games the escort object was slower than the fastest means of travel in each game, trucks and tanks were slower than player sprint and MCP was slower than the other vehicles.

If they are indeed not suitable then just don’t play the unsuitable maps but here’s a crazy idea, play them first before making your mind up…

(tokamak) #13

I’m still waiting for an elaboration on why the speed of the VIP is relevant to competition.

Exactly one year later he decided to change the netvar.

If you hate the escort mission bring up your objectives wheel spin round that bad boy turn it on its side and SHOVE IT UP YO’ CANDY A**.

But in all seriousness if the escort mission annoys you use your objective wheel to go do something else in another part of the map. myabe go make turrets, take command posts, make a shortcut as a soldier.

And POOF the thread with the video was gone.
