Shameless plug…
Epic Kills Contest 2015!
I spent maybe 20-30minutes putting my video together with some minor rhythm sync since it was originally just intended to be a highlight dump from my stream during the weekend. I don’t think great editing was really too necessary for this one since people were working with a pretty limited amount of time/footage. I personally plan to make some better quality content with HD local recordings and hopefully some more time input in the future. I do think sagan and bomba stood out anyway, simply because they had some of the more interesting/varied content while others were a bit repetitive or lacked exciting frags even if they had better editing.
No worries. Kohds and I were working on this for fun before the contest was announced, so we didn’t know about the copyright thing. That said, the frag videos I’ve always liked have been pretty minimal in the video editing department. Here are a couple of my favorites from Raziel of RtCW/ET fame:
Oh and btw Killing Strangers is like the best montage song ever
Again, it was a really hard choice and the quality of the other submissions were impressive don’t get me wrong. These were just stand-outs. Don’t worry though there will be many more to come and I do really appreciate all the work that went into these.
@INF3RN0 I agree that they stick out, their clips are different and show a high skilllevel (also because they had the luck of starting recording earlier ^^). But I think it is sad for the others who still have a decent skilllevel but put more effort in the edit. Even if you put yours togethere quickly (20-30 min. is quite good
) you still made a good synchro and your background chatter actually has a nice touch to it.
Looking forward to see those worked out montages
@“Sagan on Roids” I know a lot of other gamers that have started early and just like you enjoy those “simple” edits more than what’s kicking about on yt these days. Also I am not wanting anyone to create a FazeClan-like-omg-360-noscope montage.
I know that looking at those Wolfenstein videos might give you a feel of nostalgia while I don’t even know the game (yeah shame on me or whatever
), but even they used slight slowmotions and flashes in their edits.
At the end it is your personal opinion though and I respect that. I just think that a certain amount of editing can enhance the quality of a video bigtime. There are a lot of ways how you can make your edit more interesting while keeping it clean, so the high skill level can be seen.

Siwa Oasis?
I miss it :’( [/left]
So just to be clear official contest rules which say that any violation of the guidelines will not be eligible to be judged or awarded a prize aren’t being enforced?
What’s the point in having rules in the first place if you aren’t going to enforce them?
Would just like to clarify for future reference.
Also congrats to the winners.
@Mustang The timing restriction was a little harsher than intended that’s my fault- if the music isn’t getting flagged on YouTube and they have permission there then it’s fine. The rules will likely be different next time to make sure there is no confusion there. Apologies
@MissMurder How about a performance update before another Epic Kills Contest?
It’s pretty annoying when you try to record and suddenly your fps’ drops from 150 to 30 (for me)… only when you are able to get 150 fps… or maybe a demo recording option (like in QW).
Not to mention all those people who can not play due to hardware specs
