Epic Kills Contest 2015!

(Shackahn) #61

Hi All,

No video from me, I cant get to grips with video editing. Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck.

I had a load of fun watching some epic videos. Makes me want to jump straight back in game.

Looking forward to playing with you guys in the near future, well some of you, other I want to avoid due to you being scary good.

(Maksu) #62

oh god, I think I missed the deadline, but if you can consider it, here is a fun proxy video!

(MissMurder) #63

@Maksu I enjoyed your song choice!

(RKUnknown) #64

With what recording program do you all use? I want a really good one

(tartCanvas) #65

If you have a compatible Nvidia card, I would definitely recommend Nvidia Shadowplay. It’s backwards-capturing, meaning you can press the record button after the clip happened, and the quality is still 1080p60fps, with up to 50Mb/s. I use that myself. I think there’s an AMD variant out there called Raptr, but its name may have changed. Otherwise, I’m guessing OBS and its file-output option should serve you well if your computer isn’t too crappy.

Nvidia -> shadowplay.
AMD -> OBS with AMD VCE fork. Rptor is terrible and doesn’t even detect DB right now. In this version of OBS make sure to tick “Use AMD AMF instead of OVE” under Codecs in the settings, this’ll make it work more or less like Shadowplay does for Nvidia but without backward-capture feature and there’s no overlay to tell you when you’re recording and when it’s disabled. Still much more reliable than Rptor.

If I have a nvidia graphics card, then I already have shadowplay installed on my computer? If so, where can I find it? If not where can I install it?

(tartCanvas) #68

Nvidia cards come with a program called “GeForce Experience”. Search for that on your computer. If you don’t have it, update your drivers and download it. Once opened, navigate to the settings, choose Shadowplay on the left. In the following menu you can edit the overlay, hotkeys, etc. To turn Shadowplay on and edit further settings such as length of the recording and quality, click on the Shadowplay button at the top right. As long as your card is compatible with Shadowplay, this should be possible. Then simply select the “Shadow” recording mode, your desired length, quality and audio settings and flip the switch on the left.

(INF3RN0) #70

It is only supported by 6xx or newer cards.

(MissMurder) #71

Closing the thread till we announce the winners. Thanks everyone!

Ok. First of all I want to apologize regarding how long this took to judge. I sincerely did not expect how many quality videos would come out of this. This was incredibly difficult for us to choose and also we hope you all return for another contest like this coming up soon.
BUT alas - here are the winners:

#1 @“Sagan on Roids” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9oplp4MDr4
There are no words to describe the epicness. We all knew.

#2 @INF3RN0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXw61DM65H4
The VO and obvious skill + passion shined through your video.

#3 @BOMBA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYTDq6ITDjU
The way you were destroying people with the objective THEN dropping the objective to kill more opponents, then revive someone THEN picking the objective back up…awesome. I am contacting you all privately for your prizes :slight_smile: GJ everyone please keep doing what you do.

Honorable Mentions:
@strawberryJacket @Donaldduck8 @potty (nice song) @fana
@bumbertyr @attentiveDeposit @“Night Angel” @srswizard

(srswizard) #73

Wrong video embedded as #2 (my video instead of INF3RNO’s)! Get that garbage out of here :smiley:
I’m working on something more decent now, and I want that one buried deep. @MissMurder ,pls.

(CC_FANG) #74

Big oops! Thanks for pointing that out! But don’t be too hard on yourself. Yours was great! It was a tough choice :blush:

(Night Angel) #80

Congrats to the winners :slight_smile:

BEWARE, WALL OF TEXT :#
I need to say though, that I am a bit upset with the choice. Without trying to put any of the winners down, but from the edit they don’t really stick out as the top 3 for me.
I will let myself out of this because I don’t want to sound as if I am just jealous. :smiley:

I think that exept for INFERNO no one of the 3 winners even changed the videospeed. Unless you have really good music-synchronization, which is not the case either, this is the most essential part about a FPS Edit.
Now ofc I see the synchro in the video of Sagan on Roids but it is not perfect and also the choice of a slow beat song for a quick game like Dirty Bomb is not the best.
Talking of music, Sagan on Roids used music which is protected with copyright (It isn’t even available in my country) and still he got on first place. It would have been nice, if you’d told us that this rule was repealed.
In addition there are strange video cuts in his video, for example at 0:34 . I can’t really see this as a first place video.

Please don’t get me wrong, Sagan on Roids and BOMBA’S gameplay itself is really nice and their kills might be the best from all the videos but on the level of videoediting they have a need for improvement.
I see srswizard (who sadly put his video down :frowning: ) and fana in front of their videos because their edits are pretty well done. I think srswizard, INFERNO, fana would have been a decent choice.
I know that this contest was about epic kill videos and I understand that the jury chose videos with cool kills in them (which automaticly makes my edit worthless ^^), but for me the edit is also importaint. Not only is there more work behind it, good edits can also automaticly make their kills epic. :wink:

I hope you don’t take my words too hard. Again I didn’t want to declare any of those videos as bad, I just wanted to state my opinion so the next contest will be a blast :smiley:
