Just a thread to suggest small things that could be welcomed in DB.

  • Daily Reward system.
    If you play Warframe (a game I do play by the way), you surely know that there’s an in game system that gives you a random loot once every day at your first login : this is the daily reward system. What’s nice with such a system is that it give to the player the feel to come back everyday. It’s like a loyalty bonus, the more you log in, the more you get, and eventually it may make people much more enclined to play.

That system should give you more interesting rewards if you manage to log every day. Each consecutive day where you logged in will increase your chances to get a better bonus from the reward system. Here’s what I suggest as bonuses so far :

  • +X% credits earned for the rest of the day.
  • Access to a locked merc for X games.
  • +X% chances to drop a crate for the rest of the day.

That list may be updated at any time.

That system shouldn’t directly give you things IMO (I mean, it shouldn’t give you directly an amount of credits or a loadout card when you log in), because it’s actually here to encourage you to play. It’s supposed to make you play after all.

  • Mission cancel.
    I am pretty sure that some people have some missions that justs annoys them a lot. Players who don’t like to play medic may pest on Waterboy, people who hates stopwatch may pest on every stopwatch based missions… Myself I am pretty sure that I’ll hate the new gamemode incoming, and if I get missions about it, and I just can’t get rid of them, it’s just 600 credits lost permanently. So how about allowing players to discard missions ?
  • Discarded missions WON’T give you any credits.
  • Discarded missions WON’T be replaced with a new mission until tomorrow.

Like this, if you really hates a gamemode or a playstyle, you can decide to just throw it away and wait for a new mission next time. You won’t be stuck with a mission you just hate anymore.

  • Try before you buy.
    A small but lovely addition if you want my opinion. While free rotation is nice, I really think that you should be able to get a very temporary trial session of each merc : something like, get the merc for three games and that’s it. It’s both good for new merc’s feedback, and may also make people enclined to buy things : people compulsively buying something they just tried is not that uncommon.

  • Tutorial rework.
    What’s bad with the current tutorial, is that it only explains you basic controls, and how to play support and medic mercs. Also, you will always end with those two : newbies can’t really choose their starters based on how they would like to play, and I think it needs some kind of change. Reworking the tutorial and how you start the game is in my opinion really welcomed. When the game will hit open beta, it’ll certainly be flooded with auras and skyhammers. Some kind of variety among newbies would be great.

  • Explain advanced movements in the tutorial (crouch jump, long jump, wall jump).
  • Make also a tutorial phase for Proxy, Fragger and Vassili.
  • Allow the new players to pick two mercs among : Aura, Fragger, Proxy, Skyhammer, Vassili.

This is a change I suggested a lot of time. I think it would be a very welcomed change for new players.

PS : You may want to tweak Fragger before doing this. Seriously…

this is a nice set of ideas that are already implemented in various other ftp models.

I want missions to not reset around 7PM Central (NA) and instead reset in the middle of the morning.

Actually do they really reset ? I felt like the game kept my old missions until I finish it.

They don’t reset, uncompleted missions stay with you until they are done. He’s talking about the time at which you new ones to replace those you completed.

I’m pretty darn sure I’ve had several missions replaced that I didn’t finish, so there’s that
