Entities within the _skybox?

I map for Elite Force, and I think the portal skybox feature is AWESOME!

But I was wondering… Is it possible to add entities to the _skybox? Like a func_rotating object (rotating asteroid)? If so, how do I do it? Or do all of the brushes in the _skybox have to remain as ‘worldspawn’ brushes?

Sorry, all _skybox surfaces are part of worldspawn.

Adding support for entities would be another hack indeed. I’ll think about it… :slight_smile:

Alright! Thanks for the info, ydnar. Now I can quit trying to do what can’t be done. :slight_smile: But what it does do is very cool! If you do decide to try to get entities into the _skybox, I wish you the best of luck! That would be AWESOME!

I’ve managed to get a func_train working in a portal_sky in Jedi Academy previously without any problems, so a func_rotate shouldn’t have any problems either.

JA nativly suports Portal skys. EF doesn’t which makes the _skybox so cool.

btw- ydnar, does that mean that the skybox has to be all brushes & patches? no models?

misc_model entities are compiled into the BSP and can be in _skybox areas.
