Engineers ( A Guide For Begineers. )

(SweetGenocide) #1

Okay so, this guide is about Engineers for new players because i saw some examples of new players buying engineers and not doing the objectives.

What are Engineers?

Engineers are the mercs that:
-Repair the fastest.
-Disarm/Arm the fastest.

They only have 1 ability and 1 passive ability, the passive ability is the Objective Specialist (basicly the ability to reapir, disarm and arm the fastest.) .

With merc is an engineer?

The current Engineers are:
-Proxy 90 HP and 450 Speed
-Bushwaker 110 HP and 410 Speed
-Fletcher 110 HP and 420 Speed

There is an upcomming Engineer named Turtle, we don’t have so much info about him yet.

With Engineer is better?

Each Engineer is a special snowflake.

Proxy.

Proxy is a fast merc with a small amount of HP, she can use 2 shotguns and 1 SMG. Her ability is the Proximity mine, with will detonate if an enemy comes too close. She also haves the choice of using 2 Machine pistols or a regular pistol.

Bushwaker.

Bushwaker is a merc with a nice amount of HP and a fair amount of movement speed, he can use 3 SMGs. His ability is the Turret, when deploying one it takes 2 seconds to activate, if an enemy gets in its range (of a semi circle) it will start shooting at the target, following the target for 360 degrees.

Fletcher

Fletcher is a merc with the same HP as Bushwaker but he has more movement speed, he can use 2 shotguns and 1 SMG. His ability is the sticky bomb, a throwable explosive that will stick on the first surface it lands, Fletcher also comes with a detonator to blow them up (1 Sticky can kill mercs that have 80-100 health , 2 Stickies can kill 100-200 mercs.). He also haves the choice of using 2 machine pistols or 1 revolver.

Things you HAVE to do as an Engineer

-You always gotta repair the objective, if there is another engineer in your team then you can roam and do the secondary objectives, if you’re the only Engineer then you gotta always be close to the objective.
-Don’t rush the objective, find an opportiunity to get to the objective and to do your job.

Things you HAVE to avoid as an Engineer

-If you’re alone, don’t rush the objective unless half the team is dead.
-DON’T ninja plant. even if you succeded to get to the objective, it dosen’t mean you’re obligated to do it. You can try ninja planting but it might end up badly.

(So yeh that was my guide for Engies <-<;;

Rush-planting, especially with Proxy, is actually a very good and viable tactic on maps like Underground and Bridge, because just planting pushes the enemy spawn all the way back behind the barrier wall, so once your team dispatches them after that, you can skip a huge chunk of the map and help your team a lot.

Even if your team doesn’t kill them all, it forces them to rush back to try to kill you and defuse the C4, which creates an opening for your entire team to advance. This also works in Chapel and Dome, with the EV and EMPs, and rushing with the objective to the final delivery point makes competent teammates more willing to rush and usually results in the rock being cleared out, especially when accompanied by airstrikes and other fire support.

Players will tend to stick around the objective and if you’re a specialist, your job is to accomplish the objective while everyone else covers you, so if you’re carrying a drug sample or EMP charge, teammates will be more likely to follow and cover you.

rush planting on execution is about the dumbest thing you can do, though.

course, there are those that would say that playing execution at all is the dumbest thing you can do, but those guys just need to chill the f*ck down. it’s not that bad, the annoying missions make it infuriating is all, but as a gamemode its pretty good.

That’s different though, the maps are specifically made so that you have to meet in the middle and there’s no cover if you rush, so there’s no way to safely rush-plant. Basically every rule in that gamemode is different, you’re better off running away from combat to recuperate on a med station or to get ammo than rushing in and buying players time because there’s no guarantee you can rely on them to complete the objective without you if you had the bomb.

The execution maps are better played with fire supports, tanks, and medics than with engineers and snipers. In normal stopwatch and objective matches, every class has their niche, but in execution that’s not always necessarily true with only 5 players and no respawns.
