*Enemy Territory: World War One* - Total Conversion

Hello everyone,

I’d like to start a new mod, that would convert Enemy Territory to First World War times. Nothing has been done yet, and it’s still just a concept, but if enough people would be interested, this could become reality. I’m looking for:

-coders (good knowledge of ET SDK)
-mappers, scripters (ability to create a fully working ET map)
-skinners (ability to create high quality skins)
-animators
-sound designers (creating own sounds)
-modelers
-2d artists (creating textures, HUD icons, etc.)

It would be good to stat what you would be doing on the project. Also most of world war one was trench warfair…so i can see this being a very boring game.

you could perhaps make some interesting map with one team going over the top and trying to take control of the enemy trench but i think the game play would still be pretty similar to ET so might be a lot of work for something not too different to what you already have

Oops, sorry, I forgot about that >_>
Here is what I’ve already thought of:

-new player skins
-more realistic physics
-charge bar factor removed (limited amount of medpacks, ammo, arty and bombs (dynamites))
-no airstrikes
-no smoke bombs
-no satchel charges
-medics’ HP boost removed
-no silenced weapons
-weapons redesigned for those that were used
-Covert Ops class changed to Sniper class
-redesigned UI
-no crosshairs (ironsights and scopes only)
-voicechat sounds changed from radio to shouts
-new maps

As for the trench warfare, I thought of placing all new maps in the charge phase, so you wouldn’t just sit inside and wait.
I already have 3 ideas for the gamestyle:

  1. One team is attacking the other team’s trenches, taking control of whole trench -> win
  2. Both teams are attacking a capture point in the middle of the map, the team which will be holding the flag when the timer hits wins.
  3. Dynamic fight - both teams can attack, so you have to split the team for defense and offense, objective same as in point 1.

So, here’s the list, but it’s only the beginning and I plan to add more features.

I think you have missed his point. What would you personally bring to the project ? Your initial list seems to indicate that you need people in every area, leaving the question of what you plan to do.

There are lots of cool concepts for mods. The hard part of making a mod is the hundreds of hours of codding/mapping/modeling etc. If you only have the idea, and none of the skills to make it into reality, the chances of other people wanting to dedicate that kind of effort into making your mod happen are small.

If you do have some skills to bring to the table, you are far more likely to attract a real team by demonstrating it. For example, if you are a mapper, and make a really cool WWI themed map, then people have reason to believe that you have the ability and dedication to see the project through.

Oh, you’re right. I can code, I also used to map, script and design sounds.
I will be a coder on the mod team.

Never published any, though Warsaw 1939 was about to come out when my hard disk broke.

you could add some variety in the maps, like make city maps, or maps where you would have to dynomite a hill (i dont remember the historical name, but it existed), or where you would have to take 3 tanks to the enemy trench, etc. also dont forget that in the eastern front it wasnt trench war it was “normal” movement war, you could exploit that part of the history too.

but with sniper class, what will there be other than sniping? maybe camouflage, so you could be very hard to spot…
