Enemy Territory Tutorial

(codejockey13) #1

I just made a simple ET tutorial that goes over the mapping and scripting and it can be found at:

http://webpages.charter.net/ettutorial/

It covers most of the basics for what you need to get a map going and helps out on how the scripting works. Take a peek!!!

Hi codejockey13,
Well done! Wish I had had somethig like that commented script and that html text when I was new, would have helped a lot.

Any idea why my command posts won’t make sound? I’ve tried a target_speaker, and info_notnull like the tank uses, and the enablespeaker allies_compost_sound disablespeaker allies_compost_sound in my script and none of them work. A hand here would really help me a lot.

For me, it only works with the ingame speaker editor.
In GTKRadiant, goto “Help > Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory > ET Level Designers Reference > Speaker Editor” for more information.

i believe you need a .sps file, you can find them in pak0.pk3 --> sound/maps/goldrush.sps (for example) just open it with notepad and you can see how it works. for the rest look in goldrush (map + script) how the command post is set up.

You can edit the .sps in-game, waaay easier. :stuck_out_tongue:

Copied and edited the goldrush.sps file and stuck it in my pack. The command posts make sound now. I also added a blurb in the html tutorial describing what needs to be done to achieve ambient sounds such as these. Thanks again guys and keep up the mapping. We need some Axis offensive maps out there!!!
