Enable the cold breath effect

(Mateos) #1

Hello,

I’m looking for quite some time how to enable the cold breath effect… I believe it’s related to the atmosphere key of the worldspawn, but I haven’t found yet any source confirming this thought. And since Google nor SD forums seem to have an answer, I post a thread ^^’

I used the keywords “cold” and “breath”, I don’t know what else could help

I’m sure some experienced mappers know how to, I would like to make some winter maps and use this feature ^^

Thanks in advance,

Mateos

This is bugging me now, sure I found it when I needed it a couple of years back but can’t find the answer anywhere. :frowning:

http://icculus.org/gtkradiant/documentation/Terrain_Manual/pages/terrain_related_worldspawn_features.html ?

Thank you, it works!

Nice, we added this into ET:Zombies, code is on the SVN if needed.

ET differs a bit from q3 here. Is the ground surface snow on your map?

(Mateos) #7

Yes, that’s why I wanted this effect

(IRATA) #8

You’ll get this effect automatically in ET but ONLY on ground surface snow - it’s hard coded. SP_worldspawn() doesn’t deal ''enableBreath" so above docu link isn’t valid for ET.

Keep in mind you won’t see the effect of own player in 1st p view and cg_enableBreath needs a value of 1.

Tested! On snow surface with/without and on a non-snow surface with/without, I guess with Legacy you started to well-know the source code x)

Thanks  If someone else look for this, the thread is tagged.

Oh by the way. Do we have confirmed usage of the mentioned dust step effects? I did a quick test with shader and worldspawn dust. Did not seem to work for ET. And it was also commented out in common shaders.
