[ELI5] High vs Medium vs Low Sensitivity. What's the way to go?

@Matuno

My wrist stays on the mousepad the entire time

[quote=“RazielWarmonic;159565”]Mice sensitivities are all about what is comfortable for you. You might have to change it several times before you hit that sweet spot. The best you can do to adjust is:

  1. Observe yourself.
  2. If you’re over shooting, lower your sensitivity.
  3. If you’re under shooting, raise it.
  4. Fine tune from there.
  5. ???
  6. Profit.

Loving this part mainly because it works so well. :lol:

I started Dirty Bomb with something like 1800 DPI and 20 in-game sens, now I’m at the same DPI but 16 in-game. ADS sens is at 90% of normal sens as well

I’ve been playing on high sensitivity in PC fpses for my entire life, I don’t see any reason to dramatically dial it down over a period of time. It’s all about keeping calm under pressure, and you’ll never have a problem overshooting a target

I was the same as you (1800 and 20%), then I brought it down to 1800 DPI and 15% sens. I will and have always been a High Sensitivity Player. I found that I did A LOT Better with 15% than with 20%. I went beast mode on the poor players with Stoker. They’re all just fuel to me.

I recently lowered my sensitivity a fair amount and it has helped me immensely.I started with 1200 dpi/12 sens,then worked my way down to 1200 dpi/sens,and now am sitting at 800 dip/7sens.

Every time I went down there was a period of a week or two where my game was seriously off but once my muscle memory started to build I would always reach a higher plateau in my ability after a couple of weeks.

When you lower your sens you don’t just learn a new aiming speed but you have to adjust the way you approach the game as well(your movement,positioning,how you round corners).So if your having trouble adjusting be aware of these things,it will make the transition a lot easier.

Windows sensitivity: 2/10
Mouse dpi: 800
in-game sensitivity: 2.4

= MONEY!!

Gotta love that low sens.

I am truly amazed how I see how some of you are using an astonishingly high sens; I don’t know how you do it.

@gseijn @Amerika brought my sensitivity down to 1800dpi and 15 in game sens. Been having q beast of a weekend. Played a lot better than I usually would. I plan on keeping a high sens but I may bring it down a notch or two.

I started with 3600cpi and 10 in game. After 4 months I reduced it down to 600cpi and 6,6 in game. It feels much better.

@gseijn

Unless it’s intended, be aware that your windows sensitivity has acceleration. If you have it on anything other than 6/11, you will have acceleration in your mouse movements. And that can be acceleration on top of other factors that promote it.

No it’s not acceleration, it’s just ignored input at lower than 6/11 and pixel skipping at higher. So yeah 6/11 is the only valid option for gamers, at least it used to be. Now a days it doesn’t really matter anymore in most games as they usually uses raw input (Dirty Bomb included), which ignores your windows setting and pull the input directly from the mouse. Still there are games that don’t use raw input, so of course it is always recommended to use 6/11 anyway just to be safe.

Also @gseijn I would recommend dropping to 400 DPI and 4.8 in-game sensitivity due to Unreal Engines rounding errors that occur at lower sensitivities. If you always hipfire and never use sniper rifles it’s mostly fine, but if you plan on Iron sighting or scoping, it is not recommended to go that low. You’ll get the same sensitivity, but with less engine related issues.

I’ve had these settings for quite a while. I’m really used to it and have not come across any problems with it.
