(I know, I once again changed web host… but it should stay this url now :))

Installation:

extract the PK3 using WINZIP, or WINRAR into your
Etmain folder. Something like this (C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy
Territory\etmain)
Run the game, and play.

Map Description:

El Kef is a city taken over by the Axis forces in order backup and cover the Tunisian coast.
An allied squad is sent over to El Kef to rob a radio transmitter so Axis forces can receive the
crypted messages of Axis defense points.

The map is split in 2 main sections:

  • A first section where the aim is to rush for a forward spawn flag and destroy a main entrance
    gate. This section is similar to the first part of oasis because the flag and objective are close
    and a team door allows an attacking team covert ops to open a direct access to the final objective

  • A second section where the aim is to steal an objective and return it to a truck. There are several
    ways of reaching this objective, and an important one is a command post which provides an advanced spawn
    for the team that sets it up.

Map Contents:

  • 1 neutral command post
  • 3 different spawns for allies, 2 for axis
  • 1 objective to rob (radio transmitter)
  • 1 extraction point (truck)
  • 2 constructible defenses for the defending team (satchel breakable)
  • 1 health & ammo rack

I finally decided to make a last map for Enemy Territory since I started to play matches and found the gameplay really interesting. This map is therefore NOT designed for large public servers like MLB map pack maps were. but more for 6 VS 6 and 3 VS 3 matches.

A forum has been opened on http://hypulse.sytes.net/ in order to gather the feedback and suggestions together. More info on the map can be found on http://hypulse.sytes.net/

He’s been gathering/asking for comp player feedback for the last 2.5 months. Why not state what these minor tweaks are and maybe he can tell you if 1) they’ve already been suggested and discarded or 2) no one from the comp community ever bothered to provide feedback :wink:

As said above, I had been waiting for over 2,5 months for feedback and hardly had anything. Since the map had a few gameplay flaws and texture bugs, I decided to polish it off, get all issues fixed and release it in the state it was.

After testing it on 3vs3, I noticed it plays really well but, since I don’t play matches very often, I suppose there are several points that can be improved in the map.

Now, unless I get massive input on this map and many many clans playing it to compare their points of view and adapt the map to match playing, it will have to remain in this state (mainly because one’s point of view could be totally different from another’s)… :smiley:

Hi mon ami Marko,

Sorry to test your map so late, i was so hard on my own map, that i didn’t even realized you did this one. :eek3:
Always good to see someone working during his retirement. :stuck_out_tongue:

First, I like this map. Small, fast, goodlooking easy to learn, but with some nice little details.
I like the brushwork, clean but with some nice stuff.
It may sounds crazy, but I like this table. First, you think it has nothing, and when you really look at it, you realize why it seems so crappy.

Second, I tried and I tried to find something wrong. And, sorry, I’ve managed to make two remarks.

  1. The lamp is well located, but unfortunately stops the player who jumps to the table.
    It’s no big deal, but it can be annoying, and avoided.

  2. This broken wall is not at the standard of your mapper’s skills.
    It feels like the wall has been “cut” and not destroyed. The angles are too clean to simulate an explosion. But I like the idea of letting a piece of the window.

But, overall, it is a good map. I honestly don’t think these 2 things should be changed in order to avoid a “final_2” version.

I hope it will be played.

PS : Have you ever seen it with a lot of players? How is the map when it is crowded?

Indeed, that light could block players and I could have moved it :smiley: The same goes for the wall which does look odd on your screenshot ehhehehe. Anyhow, I promise I will change this if ever there is another release of El Kef… one day… lol :smiley:

Regarding gameplay, the map runs REALLY well in 3vs3 and 6vs6. Above that player count, I think there could be a risk of congestion and it would look like Oasis on 32 player servers: a real mess :banana: :banana: :clap: :banana: :banana:

Well, I finally saw the map with more than 12 players (24 to be accurate), and it was pretty fun too! A bit messy, I have to admit, but fun anyway. Your map is even better than what you think. :wink:

Well, I gave a ton of imput, but then for those 2.5 months I didnt hear anything from Marko, so I thought he had just given up on the map. Then I see the final and he hadnt really changed anything despite the many suggestions I saw. I’d be willing to run through it some more. You’ll probably get a ton of feedback after next week. It’s being played for twl preseason.

Also, you might want to remove the tree in that area. I know you added it for view abstruction because MGs rolled there in pubs. Problem is the hitsounds. Someone can just spray and pray and still own. Also, since its comp, teams can just tell their MG when to fire. That’s all for now.

Some of the redspawns do not have a targetname or script name, so the alertentity in the script is only turning 7 of the 14 red spawns off when the wall is blown.
