You have to allow popups in order to see the pic, then you get all sorts of other crap.

the way i like to make caves is similar to that tutoral

i start with a caulk blocks 64x64 units stacked in a line. usualy three blocks hight but it depends how big you want your tunnel

then four caulk cubes at a time, hit V. This will alow you to move the vertices… i tend to move the top and bottom vertices outwards and the middle inwards to make it apear mour rounded. but move some up and down and in and out… keep it unpredicatble and natural looking

if you do this twise then you will have two facing tunnel walls, just add some blocks on top and underneath and compleate the celing and floor… (try keep the floor smooth, movement isnt as good on rough surfaces)

when your done just texture all the surfaces showing… dont forget to make everything detial and use a caulk hull to seal in the vis otherwise your goan have serious number of vis portals

EDIT// use phong shading on the walls two otherwise your lighting will make it look very edgy and not smooth

With regards to phong shaders, would you have to make one for the texture you have used ? my rockwalls have the mxrock3aa texture.

As an alternative consider using a 3d modeling program to make the caves and then import them as ase models.
Usually it’s much easier because all you have to do is make a cylinder, tweak the vertexes a bit to give it a more natural shape, flip the normals and you’re done.

Also make sure you’ve added the name of your easygen generated shader file to shaderlist.txt. That’s usually the reason for incorrect tiling of your easygen terrain.

Well, i dont have any modelling progs, i wouldn’t want to download a free trial either, as i would want the full version. (i already get 200 fps in my caves even with a crappy 5200 Ultra, so a model would seem pointless)

Is their any way of actually making your own phong shaders for a certain texture ?
