easygen problem...

(Genesis) #1

Ok… so i have a problem with easygen…
when i make my terrain and put texture on it everything works…
then i load it at radiant put the needed entitety’s in so i can check out my terrain in-game… but when i try to compile to .bsp i get this error —>

--- LoadMapFile ---
Loading H:/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain/maps/new2.map
entering H:/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain/maps/new2.map
Entity 1 (func_group) has shader index map "etmain/new2.pcx"
************ ERROR ************
LoadPCX: Couldn't read etmain/new2.pcx

:banghead:

I did everything according 2 the surface tutorial…
Hope u can help me out here…

(Mean Mr. Mustard) #2

Is your .pcx file in your etmain folder? It looks like it can’t find it (or maybe easygen didn’t write it out…I think I had that happen)

(Genesis) #3

Yeah i put it inside the etmain folder… and when i open it myself i get the colors of the textures i used in easygen…
isnt there a way i sort of feed it to radiant?!

(MadJack) #4

huh… I can’t remember off the top of my head but I don’t think you need to specify the path for the pcx… I think it should be new2.pcx, not etmain/new2.pcx

(FireFly) #5

In radiant select your terrain and press ‘N’.
Is there a key : alphamap with a value : new2.pcx ?

(Genesis) #6

yeah there is a key alphamap and the value = etmain/new2.pcx
ill see what it does if i make it just new2.pcx

EDIT:
Yeah it compiles just fine now… thnx m8!

(Genesis) #7

Ok… so the compiling went just fine…
but when i load it up in ET my terrain is black and orange…
i get these warnings when i compile:

--- ClipSidesIntoTree ---
WARNING: Couldn't find image for shader textures/new2/terrain_0
WARNING: Couldn't find image for shader textures/new2/terrain_0to1
WARNING: Couldn't find image for shader textures/new2/terrain_1

And i cant find the texture folder where the shader images should b in…
… so where r they?!

(nUllSkillZ) #8

There should be a file “mapname.shader” in the “scripts”-subdirectory.
Just add this to the file “shaderlist.txt” in the same directory.

(Genesis) #9

there is no shaderlist.txt in the scipts folder… want me 2 make 1?!

(nUllSkillZ) #10

It must be there. I think it’s installed with radiant.
“… path to et.exe …\etmain\scripts\shaderlist.txt”

Try to find it by searching your harddisc.

(Genesis) #11

yeah i got it now… thnx m8

I also had the holodeck effect using easygen, it was because I used too many textures and it couldn’t handle it, I have no idea why. My map is really big so maybe there was some sort of compromise it had to make there. Anyway, I now only have 6 textures in my map that have come in via easygen.

Also, can anyone tell me if the three colours touching thing is isolated to easygen or does it have to be that way for the radiant compiler to put it together?

If it is isolated to easygen does this mean that I can alter the alphamap to get the desired result?

(MadJack) #13

It’s neither a Radiant or Easygen thing. It’s a compiling thing. If more than 2 textures are touching one triangle, it will default to either of the three.
