Easygen issue (maybe clever brushwork required)

(Grand_Mister_P) #1

All i want to create in this is a ring of mountains to surround my rather small map, ive got all the dimensions and bitmaps sorted, but i DONT want the middle ground to appear AT ALL!!! Just a single ring of mountains. Is this possible? See ill be wanting to creat a tunnel and trenches in the middle ground, and if i have a central floor, this is inpossible to do right?

Cheers

try making the dimensions really small, butting the mountains in a skyboy

if u dont want the middle u delete it

No, I don’t think you can delete the middle at all in EasyGen… but it’s simple enough to modify the EasyGen terrain in Radiant, isn’t it? Is there some reason you can’t just delete/modify the central floor, using clipping etc…?

But remember, brushes are easiest to modify if they’re flat, so you’re best off making the whole central floor flat.

As far as I see, no “clever brushwork” is needed.

Yes, all you need to do is create the ring of mountains that you already have set out, put something in the middle to make it into a rectangular shape (the heightmap). Once you’ve got it into Radiant, just delete the brushes you don’t want. I’ve done pretty much the same thing, needed to create a cavern. Also, you can alter the vertexes of each of these brushes in Radiant, or clip them however you want. Just remember they do need to stay func_grouped, and have the same alphamap, and func_group keys etc.
