EasyGen Division Settings for map 8064 * 8064 ?

I have been using easygen to create my terrain for my map. All was going really well until I tried to apply the textures and test the game in wolf mp. What I found was that a div setting of 128 made my terrain look blocky, I have now set it to 64, but wondered if this is too little and my new creation will be really laggy. I have heard it mentioned that for large maps you should not go below 256 let alone 64.

Any ideas welcomed.

I NEED SMOOTH LOOKING TERRAIN.

i think thats a matter of experimenting a bit. u might want to do a fullvis compile to check if 64 is to low for your map. if it is, but u really think higher values wont do it, u could think about creating some high mountains to “splitt” the map for vis. for this u d have to find a layout where u can build a structural wall between the both parts, only connected with a tunnel, something like that.

Size of your terrain brushes depends largely on how often you plan to change height/gradiant, and how quickly.

If you’re going for smooth rolling hill type terrain you could get away with 256 x 256, whereas if you’re after lots of smaller hills and lumps in the ground, you’ll need 128 x 128. 64 x 64 is definitely overkill in almost all cases though.

A lot of wolf maps use 192 x 192, which strikes a pretty good balance and keeps the polycount manageable.
