[drupal=660]E3 2010 Coverage Round-up - Day 3: More Footage and Q&As[/drupal]

E3 2010’s over and done with, but Brink coverage is just getting started. Most notably, Game Director Paul ‘Locki’ Wedgwood appeared on GameTrailers TV to narrate a 7 minute walkthrough of the character customisation and campaign map shown at E3. There’s lots of gameplay in this one, so be sure to watch it.
In other news, we’ve also got a couple new video interviews from the show with Game Director Paul ‘Locki’ Wedgwood and Lead Writer Ed ‘BongoBoy’ Stern, as well as a new preview:

The 360 interview seemed to have some good Q&A, but I couldn’t understand half of it !

(tokamak) #3

Couldn’t they just point the camera at one of the dudes playing the game behind them?

Ed mentions that you can only bring 3 abilities into a mission with you, and his reasoning (at least one reason) was, “because we are binding it to the d-pad.” Now I hear a lot of people talking about being able to choose 5 abilities, wich comes down to this:

  • does PC get an actual gameplay advantage console by being able to have 5 over 3, or does the console/controller shortcomings mean it is now 3 for all platforms?

edit: Hed actually says you get 3 ACTIVE abilities, suggesting that you can get passive abilities as well, which in the E3 vid, he had.

Also, on the more aesthetic side, He says the tattoo’s are permanent. What exactly does he mean by “permanent?” In the old customization video, Paul is switching between El Salvadorian and Russian gangster tattoo’s. Is this not possible now? So if I put a tattoo on my guy, it will always be present no matter what? I can’t even swap it for a different tattoo?

It was too difficult to understand anythig they said in Ed’s interview. :frowning:

(tokamak) #11

The video shows passive as well as active abilities, extra hp, better buffs and that combat vision thing are all passive.

I really hope the pc doesn’t have that limit, as it only gives more combinations to play around with.

Oh I like that. It gives tattoos the same hard-ass appeal they have in real-life. You make a choice for life (well removing them is a pain in the ass ofc). Getting to switch them all is removing that.

I dont think in the old videos he is actually selecting the tatoos. But there is pretty a good chance that the removing tattoo feature was removed. Because it also looks like they changed the charachter customization screen as well. It looks totally different from the old videos.

Yeah… I couldn’t understand them the first time I saw that, and I still can’t… we need a transcript.

+1

I really want to know what he says, it seems to be interesting :frowning:

Come on, Paul is one of those islanders who can talk in complete sentences and with good diction in doing so(in UK they value this trait so high they actually give you a game development company, complete with tapirs!), be appreciative of what you get.

That video answered many of the questions I had about the game.

The Gametrailers vid has decent resolution and Paul walks the viewer through it. A good video.
